i was about to buy shortys for the price but i was wondering how much more power would the longtubes actually give me.i have a decently built motor.i also already have a h pipe for shortys but if it is worth it i would look in to getting the long tubes and an x pipe it it will giving a considerble amount of power gain over the shorty's.

hey no comparison is all I have to say
you will see way more power from some Long tubes
I say at least 2times more power from long tubes

but if your goin long tubes make sure you get some BBK ceramic coted they are better then MAC's
but of course MAC's will be cheaper in price

but if you go long tubes it wont pass the visual

my eingine builder says the new cams will pass, and i have a way around the visual.but will they actually pass the smog test with them on?

the only way it will pass the smog check is if you buy a shorty h-pipe with some cats on it, that is if a buddy hooks you up on the visual part.

Sure go ahead and buy the long tube's you will get twice the power right....uh no you probably won't notice the difference and the shorties are a much cleaner install and have lots more h pipe options.

Just go long tubes, I wish I would have and now regret it. My buddys 5.0 feels a lot more powerful with the longtubes we just put on his. It will pass the sniffer if you get a shorty h-pipe with high flow cats but will not pass visual but you said you have a hook up on visual so there you go.

If you are running a power adder get the long tubes. Bob Cosby has the fastest 99 4V and he was running JBA shorties. I f you have to change your clutch, you have to change one side completely. Big bitch! Its all on you, but the LT's are worth it in the long run [Wink]

So to take the tranny out to do a clutch or torque converter you would have to remove one of the long tubes? Damn I never thought about that that would suck on a 2v or 4v but not that bad on a fox. If that teh case I change my vote and go with the shortys.

so how much would a nice set of longtubes coast me?and if i was to get them anyone have a hook up on smog?
i can have a friend pass the visual but hes not sure on the actual test.

It will pass teh sniffer just not visual so it looks as if you are covered. I think BBK's Longtubes are like $350 but I have heard SHM are a little better because of there dyno numbers.

Just click on my profile and then go to "send private message." Or just email me at markdicello@msn.com. Los Altos is near mountain view, about 10 min north of san jose. Im actually in santa clara right now. I'm willing to drive a little though if it'll work

I have a bbk off road x-pipe with my 4.6liter gt and I put on shorty headers. I tried to fit the longtube headers, but it required me to make a few cuts. If you want longtubes, you will obviously get more horsepower, but not that much. Go with the shorty's they sound really good and provide a lot more horsepower.

yea 25 to 30 hp with the long tube headers because you have to change the h-pipe as well to get them to work you bunch of idiots. the only reson you only get about 10 hp with the shorties is because they are testing it with the stock cats if you compare both long tube and shorties with off road h pipes there is only a 1-2 hp difference......do you understand, and the long tubes are a bitch to install.

Longtubes make the tightest sound I have ever heard and apparently they make a whole shit load of power too. Get those long tubes and don't look back. [patriot]
