Should I just have someone come over and do it or get it profesionaly done?? And how much should I expect to pay for it???

Pretty easy, and you can do it yourself. Go to Home depot for the wood. Just measure eveything before you go. Buy the fabric from a fabric store, or buy trunk cover from ford(the carpet that is in your trunk above your spare tire). Mirza(a guy on here w/ a red cobra) has it done and it looks sweet.

Hmmm....Jason you forget, I'm a girl [Big Grin] I'll just buy the material and have someone do it. This girl Heather has a 99 GT and her brother did it for her. Then she had him install a 12 and it lookes sick. Thanks for the advice.

[Eek!] That looks sick. Thanks for the info guys. Do you think I'll be able to somehow put a 12 or two 10's in there, too?

I think you can put 2 12" in if you wanted too.

89hatchback_LX- have you done this to your car? Just curious because if you did I was wondering if you could post pics of yours. For that matter anyone that has a Fox hatch and deleted the backseats. I want to do it to mine and just wanted to see a finishe product before I did it.

GTVIXn didn't mean to hi-jack your post.

Go to the lumber yard and buy a sheet of plywood. The thickness is up to you. I used 3/8", but you could use 1/4 if you wanted to save some more weight, or 1/2 if you wanted it to be stronger.

Go to a stereo supply store and buy about 2 yards of automotive carpeting in the color of your choice. Its usually about 5 or 6 bucks a yard.

Go to the hardware store and buy a can of 3M spray adhesive. Don't buy the cheap stuff, get 3M. I heard a guy describe it one time as sticky enough to stick a fat woman to the side of a barn.

Find a big cardboard box and cut it so that it is one big sheet of cardboard. After taking out the rear seat, cut a piece of cardboard that is just a little bit bigger than the rear seat . Get in the car and start trimming your cardboard until it is exactly the shape that you need. Taaaadddaaahh. You now have a template.

Cut out the plywood using this template. Cut it a little bit big just to make sure that it is all covered. You can always trim a little off later. Keep trimming it until you have a perfect fit.

Spray the board with Spray adhesive and apply the carpet to it making sure to stretch the carpet out so that it is smooth on the board. Wrap it around all of the edges.

Figure out where you want to screw in the pieces and cut a small slice in the carpet at each place and spread it so that you can see the wood. Set the pieces in the car, and drill through the wood and the metal in the car making sure that the drill does not catch the carpet. Now run the screw through the holes. You can then pull the carpet back over the screw head so that its hidden.

When this post only had 5 replies to it, that is when i viewed it, and decided to take out the rear seat in my stang. I jsut did it, took about an hour, it is now sitting here in my room! And bout fitting 2 12's in there, yea that would be hella easy! I am building a box for my firend(if he ever gets money, LOL) for his 01 GT. It will be a ported box having 3 10's in it. I am a hella good box builder, and have build many boxes. My last box, or boxes was for my own 88 GT, which went into the hatch area, it had 3 10's...ported, carpeted, and it even went into the wheel well, for more air. So if you want a custom box im sure I can build anyone one. Just ask...they work hella good also...NOT just custom made crap!

LOL [Big Grin] Thanks.....I'm gonna go by all the stuff tonight and get on it this weekend. Can't wait to get it done. And one of my friends has 2 12's for a really good price so I'll probably have him put those in, too. Thanks for your help guys [Big Grin]

I will be doing this in my fox after I purchase an amp and a 12" sub. Just got a ps1 with a screen and going to customize all this stuff into the rear seate delete. Going to flush mount the 12 into the wheel well.

When I took my rear seats out they didn't weigh that much, and then I couldnt give people rides to places if I wanted to. Maybe if your car was a show car I'd do it. I'm probably going to end up making a delete one day. I don't have anytime though
