Well, i have a pro 5.0 shifter and im wanting to install it myself, but then again im no genius. it comes with "instructions," and i have a chiltons manual that shows how to remove/install a shifter, but i want an honest no bullshit assesment here.... Do you think i can do this or should i have a mechanic put it on? Also, estimated time on the whole process? Thnx!!!

You can do it. It is so easy. remove shift knob. remove 4 bolts. remove stock shifter. clean surface. add small bead of RTV blue silicone. Install new shifter. bolts. bang away. 20 minutes or less

Oh yeah and set the stop bolts so you dont damage your shift forks. Follow the instructions, it's cake

Also, after it's first installed it'll be a little notchy...that's fine, don't worry about it. It'll break in from use and be smooth. It's really easy to do, do just what sharkattack said.

DO IT YOURSELF! That was the first thing that I ever did to my car. It took me about 30 min but I had trouble gettingthe old one off. The sealant from the old one held it so well so I had to sepend time scraping it away so that it would come off. But after I got it off it was only a matter of minutes before it was on. The easiest thing you will probably ever put on. Also mine makes noise. Like a windy noise. But I heard it was normal so I did not worry but I am sure someone on here will know.

this is one of the best mods there is. it's pretty easy to put on too. make sure to put some type of gasket back on when you put the new shifter on. it will feel tight for a couple of days...but the springs will break in and you'll love it.
