I was thinking about adding a H-pipe withs high flow cats to my stock exhaust and was wondering how much louder it would be. I like the way stock mufflers sound (no drone) and might swap it out in the future for something like Dynomax Super Turbos because I do not want that drone. Would the high flow cats drone? I think I'll pass on the X-pipe though...

My brother has shorty headers, a mac hpipe w/cats and flows...

I drove his car up to sac one time, and my ears seriously hurt when I got there. It was like I'd been at a concert all night. They were ringing from the exhaust drone. The hpipe made the car twice as loud.

Now on my GT, i've got a hiflo X and magnaflows, and it's loud as hell outside, but no drone in the car, and IMO, a much better setup!

So, what are you suggestions for my 5.0L exhaust system with cats and quiet as possible sound level? I do want 2.5" all the way also.

Use a high flow cat H pipe and a MagnaFlow cat back. It will make a nice deep sound. Not too loud, not too quiet.

Make sure you don't get lazy. Install the tips. If you don't the car will be a racket inside and out. Not to mention there are HP gains to be had from running the full tips. [patriot]

i'm running my stock mufflers with a bbk catted x pipe and noticed much more sound but not a lot of drone, you can hear the exhaust more in fifth gear but it doesn't get annoying at all, you can barely hear it. I had my g/f drive by with it and it sounds really good from the outside.

NO SUCH THING! A Catalytic Converter is a Catalytic converter. They are all the same. They all have to blow good numbers to pass smog so they are the same. Go talk to your local muffler shop they will tell you. Thats what the guys at muffler time told me anyway. So if you really want some sound go with an offroad exhaust system.
