did you reset the computer? plug everything in right? try unhooking the battery and hooking it back up again

did u bump something on the throttle body? throttle cable, idle screw etc?

are both the sensors plugged in? i dont see how a simple intake kit can do that

It's my car that's fucked up. How would we know if we bumped into the idle screw?

Posted by quickV6stang (Member # 1061) on :

might havebumped something, but were not sure, and im sure by looking at it we wouldnt know. we drove the car around and as we got it going there was a leak of some sort, just seemed like water (maybe a little "thicker," but we dont know. fuck

try toying with your throttle body, or like i said before, tear it apart and do it over again

just might have to do that.....one thing we have to narrow down, can it be the computer. The thing says you need to have "8 driving runs for the computer to fully come back to normal" or some shit like that. what the hell is 8 driving runs??? we restarted the car like 40 times throughout the whole night, its just the same.....

8 driving runs? My 2001 requires a complete "drive cycle" which takes a good hour to accomplish. You reconnect the battery. Let the car idle until the engine is warm (agout 10 min,) turn on the A/C high and let idle for a couple minutes, then turn all accy's back off for a couple minutes and idle again (to let it relearn it's idle) Then you drive freeway speed for a minimum of 10 minutes, stop and let it idle for a minute and then do four 5 minute stop and go city type drive cycles with a one minute plus idle cycle between each. Once you start this you cannot turn off the engine till your through. I have made many mods and "re-started the computer numerous times and gone thru the "drive cycle" routine at least 3 times, but never did it start up and have the problems yours is having. Check everything you did and re-check it again. Your IAC? Did you short and fry the puter?

that sounds like one hell of a process we wouldnt have to do 8 times, so i think were on different levels. Im gonna go over and call demolet and see if i can fix his car while hes at work, this shit is aqward.

ok well weve narrowed it down to the only problem being with the idleing. the check engine light flicked on and off for a while but we've been driving it and the thing just dies when you come to a stop.

Would ford be able to do some comp. test on it to see what the problem is or what? Is there some sort of "idle switch" that someone mentioned before that we might have fucked? thnx.
