Which rear end should I get for my 88 gt stang? I'm looking at getting a 8.8 rear end for the stang. How good is it compared to the stock one that is currently with the car right now? It's all stock so I'm just wondering what other alternatives I have as well. I herd of a 327 rear end for mine but how expensive is it and is it and how reliable is it? How much am I looking at spending if I get a 327 rear end and either that or a 8.8 rear end. I already got a price quote for the rear ends but I just wanna know what you guys say. Thanks for the help.

all ford 8.8 rears are practically the same regardless of whether it was in a F-150, Van, mustang, t-bird, or fairlane. What is different is the mounting points for things like drum brakes, disc brakes, control arms, etc.

sounds like you might just want to get your trac-lock rebuilt and a new gearset installed. Anywhere from 2.73 to 4.56 should fit any 8.8 rear (standard on mustangs since like '82 I think, and then some of the 60's even had 9" rears)

Thanks ShadeTree hey check your for sale forum, I'm very interested in the 94 cobra motor. Anyways I'm going to stick with the 8.8 rear axles for the stang for now because I need new axles anyways. Thanks for the info and advice it helps. Hey do you do motor swaps by chance? Just curious on what your price range would be. Thanks

I can offer a hand in doing a motor swap, but I don't charge [Wink]

I have a cherry picker available to borrow as well. just let me know.

Thanks bro, I won't be getting a motor swap anytime soon. I'll probably do some mods to the motor I have now. I'm actually saving for a 351 I should have it in about 6 months.
