I recently did the 2000 head swap on my 96 GT.Everything is done but when I start it up it keeps overheating what would cause it to do that? Some people told me it could be because air pockets is in the cooling system is that true? Plus I've noticed the idle is a little to high I also had a 70mm throttle body installed along with the heads what could be the problem?I need help on what to do.Thanks

I dont think you can get air pockets in the 2 valve motors
becouse they dont have any way of purging the air out of the system like the cobras do
well I would start checking to see if your fans work or check to see if they are connected , im thinking maybe your thermestat might of gone bad, and last thing is did you use new head gaskets , and new head bolts couse if you re used any of thouse you might have a leak in your head gasket
about the Idle well if you have a leaking head gasket that might be cousing it but not sure couse your car should run fine with the new heads

Well the fans are working fine the head gaskets are brand new so are the bolts I went ahead and bought the whole head changing kit to do the swap.I went ahead and bought a 180 degree thermostat so that should be okay I had that installed along with the heads.

hmm well you might want to check you plugs and see how they look
maybe the head gasket is sitting wrong
also the reminds me this heads where used correct did you get them cut to make sure they are even before you put them back on couse maybe they where warped and needed to be millied if you did not make sure they where flat and they are warped then you would get a bad seal on the gasget
check you plugs to see what if they have water on them
changing the thermostat to 180 is fine
hey does your gauge get to hot or does you car boil over couse mine is always at half and never goes past that even if it booils over the damm gauge just stays at half

Hey I forgot to mention that I could here a little ticking noise on the passenger side I think it's a valve so my mechanic is gonna chech that out.I also heard that if the timing chain is off a little that could cause the engine to over heat is that true? When rhe engine getts hot it stays on the letter A on the temperature gauge.I didn't notice that until you mentioned it.I was sitting at the light and it started boiling over but the needle didn't go to the red.

crazy shit huh it nevers goes to hot just boils over LOL
well if your timing was off you would bend a valve or 2
that would not couse it to over heat only thing I can think is head gasket , water pump , or fans,
so did you get the heads resufaced before putting them on thats the ?
couse im telling if you just slapped them on then that might be where your ploblem is
best way to check is plugs make sure they look good not water, second a compression test
