Just got my 3.73's installed, and as expected,my speedo is WAY OFF. Im just curious as to what speedo correction you guys used, and where you got it. I have heard that it is pretty simple to install?

I got the white gear from apex for ~16$. Seemed to work great for me. I think the gear you need may be a bit different because of a different tranny possibly

Yeah what the rick said, I got the gear from Apex, and had it installed the same time as my gears. Where did you get yours installed? An how much did you end up paying?

I bought the gears from Summit for $189,then had to pay $216 for install. It was supposed to be like $240,but we got a group discount with 4 of us. [Roll Eyes]

Apex will know what tooth speedo gear you need. It depends on the type/year tranny you have. The speedo gear is easy to swap, just 1 bolt holding in the VSS sensor on the drivers tail shaft of the tranny. Use a small flat head to remove the existing gear and the pop on the new one.

i put 3.73's in my 93 and my speedo was WAY OFF too. i bought mine from Mustang Unlimited. it needed to pieces on the speedo cable (on the outside) and another o <-- that goes on the inside on the tailshaft. that was the difficult one, i heard you can change it wiht the tranny still in the car, but i choose to remove the whole transmission and do it outside of the car, luckly i did because i had a tough time. one hint TAP the PIN out! Call rearend specialteis and ask them if they have a used set lying around, they usaully do, and sell them for $100, then will intall it for $220, that is $320 with their warranty.

The 23-tooth speedo gears are the $15 ones. All the others are only $10. I usually have a pretty good supply in stock, so before you get gears done at Rearend Specialties, just pick up a speedo gear from us, and they can install it for you at the same time!
Happy gear bangin'!

you have a t-5? If so dude, It's a snap. Seriously should not take you more than 10 mintues to change. Like he said, it's one bolt. Look for the speedo cable going into the tailshaft. Pull that bolt. Slide the whole cable out and you will see the gear in the end. Pull the c-clip out that's holding it in with a small screw driver, pull the gear straight off, slide the new one on, put c-clip back in, and slid the cable back in the tranny. Tighten that bolt back down and your speedo will be damn near correct, that is assuming tire and rim size are stock.
