I usually install my own beat but i've ran into a snag lately. I just picked up a KENWOOD KDC-V7016 and was planning to install it yesterday. But, lately, i heard that trying to install an aftermarket receiver to a Mach 460 system(1994) was extremely difficult(peripheral adapter, re-wiring of speakers, re-wiring of amps, etc.) those are all excuses i heard from audio shops. Are they pulling my leg or is it really that complicated to by-pass the MACH system? im not adding any woofers or changing my speakers, i just want to replace my stock deck. Highest quote i got was $120, and the harness was $50. Help me out somebody, are they jawsin or what?

Not sure on the $120 labour quote, but the $50 for the harness is about right. I paid more than this a long time ago. Never got round to installing it.

that's about right for the harness, you need a special converter box to control the volume levels, otherwise the speaker volume shoots way up. after that there isn't much to the mach system, especially if you're not gonna mess with the stock amps, that is where it gets the trickiest.. good luck, if you need any help on the install just let me know.
