in my 2001 s281 SC. and is there anything I could put in my intercooler to run cooler. In this hot weather it says my car is running at 130degrees.

Ive always used Castrol Fully Synthetic. In an article in MMFF,the dynoed 5 more horses after switching to this type. Not sure if it will help your cooling problem. [Confused]

i use mobil one synthetic, the only thing is you can't switch back to regular oil if you go with synthetic, it WILL damage your engine. I noticed that my engine runs a lot smoother with mobil 1 synthetic, haven't checked what temperature it runs at though.

for you intercooler, they just came out with something to keep it even cooler but i can't remember what it was, check this month's mm&ff and 5.0 mustang, it's in there.

one other thing, go with red line sythentic oil, it's the best thing for your engine, i've had more people then i can't count recommend that for me, mainly mechanics. i'm switching over to that next oil change.

on a power adder car, viscosity is your friend. I wouldn't go thin if I were you. (like those crazy ow-30 types)

oh well I just got back from my oil change and I put 5/20 ridline synthetic. I hope thats a good choice. expensive though.

yeah, the 20 weight is gonna heat ur engine up faster, so a 30 weight would probably be good, takes the engine longer to heat up.
i'm going with redline next oil change, the cool part about it being synthetic is you don't have to change it as often, which will average it out to the reg. oil.

The guys at the Lube place said that all 5/20 is synthetic. So I guess its all good. I'm thinking of and oil cooler, I have seen them on the web. Do you think it would be a good investment?

Just run what Ford/Saleen recomends. Ford doesn't want to pay for an engine swap any time soon and they built it so of course they know what oil is best for it. I've had good luck with regular Mobil oil. I'm sure other brands work just as well. When I replaced my valve cover gaskets at 198K miles, I didn't notice any sludge build up what so ever. I think changing the oil often is more important than what kind or brand you use.

Saleen recommends 5w-50 syn. in their 99-00 blower cars. That's what I've used since 500 miles, which is also what Saleen recommends.
I believe Saleen changed the oil weight for 2001, though. You should be fine with your 5-20.

I've heard some guys using water wetter in their intercoolers. Not sure of the results. 130 degrees on the intercooler temp is about average. I've seen 150+ on 100 degree days. The car runs like crap when its that hot outside, very sluggish.

AMSoil here too! I'll never go back. It's the same price as all those others ~$5 a qt.

Castrol is NOT a fully synthetic oil. It is a petrolium that is sytheticly refined. Mobil One is no longer fully synthetic either. They had (& lost) a lawsuit with Castrol about their mis-advertising....so now, Mobil synthetically refines their petrolium to keep competitive.

You can order direct, or find a dealer near you. In Sac, Tognoties carries it.

I also use their oil filter. $10, but it's got sythetic media. Mobil One is also an excellent filter...$10 as well.

Amsoil is a low-foaming oil, which helps drain-back in power-adders.

Apex also stocks amsoil locally if you want to go that route. If your 5.O has a lot of miles on it though, your valve cover gaskets and rear main seal probably won't like the synthetic oil much (translation: leaks).

For the Redline Water-wetter, I think it's good to put it into your radiator and intercooler. It I read it's good for your cylinder heads. anyway here is the artical. what do you guys think?

Water wetter is cool, but it doesn't really make much of a difference unless you put in 3-4 bottles. Even then, it's really ment for cars that are on the edge of needing a better cooling system.
Although, the corrosion resistant properties are nice.
