I have a 92 gt and i was wondering what the biggest cam i could run in it without jamming my valves. I have the minor bolt-ons, headers h pipe and bbk cold air. I will also be putting on some 1.6 ratio rockers, i dont kno much about cams and rockers and all that stuff so if u guys can give me some advice it would be much appreciated. thanks.

Do you want it smog leagl? If so,
I would go with a Motorsport B or E cam.

Unless you've got a good set of heads, I think a cam change would be a waste of money. There are cars out there making BIG power with stock cams. If you must buy something, get a set of 1.7 rockers and save up for aftermarket heads. Read this FAQ from Alternative Auto

Oh yeah, almost forgot...I didn't see gears in your list of mods. That would probably be the best bang for the buck improvement on your '92 GT

there's a lot of HP left on the table by the stock cam in a stock application.
bigger durations can make MAJOR gains, especially the split ones.
comp cam 274 HR *should* fit on a stocker, but is a bit big for completely stock heads.
consider TFS stage 1, or the comp cam 268HR as a better fit.
(274 HR cam too big for stock stuff)
mostly the 5.0 mags and MM&FF rag feed the line "no sense changing the cam in a stocker", sure they are partially correct, but a cam change can free 10-15 on a stocker. maybe more.
(no I don't work for compcams, lol, just their off the shelf inventory is the biggest)

You might want to look into a nitrous kit to give you the extra umph until you map out your 331 combo. I did that for 2 years until I finally upgraded. Worked out well for me. Just another option to consider.

I ran an X cam back in the day before I knew better on a stock 5.0L motor with good springs.

I would get some heads when you do the cam if you can't afford them at least open the exhaust ports on the stock ones they are really restricted. A cam alone will do you no good you won't see any power gains from it, (been there done that).
