I was looking around the site and I noticed that Matt's 1998 Cobra blew up due to lack of oil. I don't know Matt and have never talked to him but I assume he knows a fair bit about cars and he wouldn't drive his car aound if he new it was extremely low on oil to the point of destroying an engine. His problem sounded very similar to mine. sorry I just wanted to vent. grrrrrr. back to crying my slef to sleep

i dunno if using a thicker oil is a good idea... after all, the cobra uses a fairly thin oil to make sure that it flows freely enough to avoid starvation. the stock oil pans on the 4.6l cars are a joke!
if you get a rebuild, make sure to put a canton pan on it to avoid that type of problem in the future.
good luck!
