Hey ya'll
im new to this board and hope to see u guys soon. I have a question. Aside from all the other upgrades i'll have to do how hard is it to swap the stock 289 for a 429 SCJ? My uncles Mach I has the 429 but the car is rusted beyond repar . The motor has only 68,000 origional miles and runs like new but I wated to know if I was gettng i over my head with this one...let me know. Thanx in advance.

Hey you lucked out since you have a complete donor car.

It is easy, just swap everything over.

Label it all and take pics to help you out.

Other than that I dont see it taking more than a week of steady work [Smile]

And shouldnt cost much either!

I am swapping a 302 from my 67' Fastback right now to a 351w stroker (408W). As long as you have a cherry picker (engine puller) and if you want an engine stand you should be fine. The tranny should need a different bellhousing and some other minor differences but it shouldn't be too hard. I am switching from a 4 speed toploader to a 5 speed Tremec. As the two posts said before, if you have the complete engine, swapping isn't too tough. Also, your engine compartment will fit the 429 so it won't affect that, though headers might be an issue. If you want help on the specifics let me know.
