What up guys,
I want to install some under drive pulleys for my 96 Gt Vert.(wen I get it back from the Bbody shop) I don’t know what brand to buy. I heard that if you install some Roush pulleys they are better than any Mac, BBK, March etc. Any one know if this is true? Are pulleys even worth it?

My thoughts are to save your money. You may get 5 or 10 hp but you will not feel any gains from pullies. The way pullies work is you get a smaller crankshaft pulley and a much larger alt. and water pump pulley. By changing the rotation of these things you can supposively get some power. In my opinion the only one worth a shit is the crankshaft pulley because it is smaller thus making one revolution quicker. The real kicker is the other two pullies. The alternator pulley is much larger which makes one revolution of the alternator take longer producing less charge. Same goes for the water pump. I put some pullies on a car a couple of years ago and my car ran hotter due to the fact that the water pump was not spinning as fast. My .02 cents, save your money for that big purchase, you know the one!!

this mod is known as the best 'bang for the buck' for a reason.

$80= ~ 10 rwhp

you decide if possibly a little undercharging/a little overheating is worth it.

not a problem in my 116k mile car, and my radiator is shit too. also, I have a 3G alternator which is probably stock on the SN-95

No problem on my stang with my BBK pullies, and i did notice a difference in my car when i installed them.

I dont see how a companys pullies can be better accept for the material that they use and the quality f the machinist but there all cnc so just buy w/e pullies you can afford. Differences in the prices are the NAME and the MATERIAL used (aluminum or steel).

I felt a difference when I added mine I think, but regardless of whether you felt it or not, it does not matter because the horsepower would definately be there. Results are all that truly matter, and for the money pullies produce amazing results. If you can find a better mod for the price, then i say hell yeah, save your money and get something else...but i dont think you will.
If you have overheating issues with pullies then you have other issues that need to be addressed. I also run a huge stereo with pullies and a regular NAPA alternator and although my lights dim at idle, i have no charging problems.

In my opinion, go for it.

i say go for it...but brand does matter. in my car, i have the steedas, and i just put em in about a month ago. i did feel it, and they are good. it is true that the battery doesnt charge the same... but, as long as you get a good brand, you'll be fine. the steeda or the asp ones are the ones i ve heard to go with and so far i havent had any problems with the steedas. the only reason i say brand is important is cause i put some of the real cheap mustangs unlimited brand in my 50 and had all sorts of problems--
1- i had a dead battery at least 40% of the time.
2- the car ran extremely hot (really hot, i couldnt drive on 17 anymore)
and 3- i went threw 3 alternators.
brand does matter.

Damn dude that sucks you have had some really bad luck is what it sounds like to me.
