Talking to Rick Anderson at Anderson Motorsport he was telling me about Tip In. Can anybody explain what that is. I was inquiring about slight quik Ping in the low RPM range.

that's the term for when you are idle or thereabouts, and nail the throttle, you have 'tipped' in.

The EEC-IV typically pulls timing during this event... it's momentary.

Tip-in is when ever the gas pedal is abruptly pressed in when it was at a steady previously (cruise, ect). Boosted cars tend to ping on tip in..... hold the RPM's at a steady 3K-4K RPM for several seconds, boost and power builds up creating heat, mash the gas (tip-in) the car may initally ping. This is the pinging that happens as soon as you mash the gas, but goes away when the pedal is floored. The EEC runs a lot of advance at part throttle/light load which causes this.

Yep. I've got tip-in detonation too.
The computer takes a second or two to catch up & for those few seconds there is too much timing.
Byron can eliminate that......
