I was just setting my stud-rockers on my TFS heads (TFS 3/8" stud mount rocker)... and I observed...

1. Back the allen head screw out of poly-lock prior to screwing the poly-lock down on the stud.
(should be intuitive, it wasn't to me )

2. Set the pushrod to zero lash (I just put #1 at TDC and rotated the crank 90 degrees at a time following the firing order, pretty simple really)

3. Tighten another 0.5 turn on the stud, verify the installed height per TFS specs (they list exactly how high the midpoint of the rocker bearing is supposed to sit relative to the stud base).

4. Crank down on the allen screw.

stud-mounts rock!!! pedestal mounts suck ass in comparison. I have the preload set precisely where I want it! no more farkin with shims and vodoo prayers! [worship]

I tighten the final lash setting a different way.

I tighten the set screw down and then give my turn on the nut to lock it down and get that last bit of preload.

Has been working for years now and never had a rocker come loose.

I seen and experienced a lot of loose rockers using your method after a good top end run.

thanks, I'll do it that way. you defintely can get a tighter setting using the 'outside' lock versus the allen. I'll run over my rockers again. no biggee, 30 mins. probably.
