Heard any horror stories, lopey-ass idle, etc. about aftermarket cams on an N/A modular stang??

Thinking about it as my next mod .

I'm lookig for more midrange and believe I've found the formula:

211 deg. .500 lift- intake
217 deg. .550 lift- exhaust
114 deg. lobe sep.

I'm down. How much? How hard to install Might as weel do a port and polish job. I've been talking to SHM and they said w/ cams, port job, and long tubes, easily over 300 rwhp. Thats good for mid 12's on DR's

SHM's cams have a more aggressive profile!!! However, they have cores I believe. Crane regrinds . My shit will be down at least 2-3 weeks if I go Crane...

SHM=$$$$$$$$$-right????

With a good tune at Apex or wherever most cams should be worth at least 10-15 rwhp. Shit, l/ts, Bullit intake, p/p- you'll be in Z28 territory [worship] .

Here goes:

SHM "Billet" GT cams:
230 deg @ .490 thruout= somewhat of a lope @ idle and ~20 rwhp on a stock 99-up GT. Right now they're $595.00 (gulp) down from $800.00 (double-fucking gulp). I don't know about those prices ; but u can't deny the hp improvement!!!!

As far as the install, they go in straight-up! Int/exh. are on the same stick so no degreeing is necessary. Basically I'd do it myself...

I got the profile figures from Dave Maxwell @ Crane.

I'm still waiting on my chip, so the cams may be a few weeks away (maybe longer )

I think the $4000 price tag applies to the Stage 3 kit; heads, Bullit intake, cams, valve springs, etc. I'm only taling about the cams . BTW, a valve spring upgrade isn't necessary; no floating danger .

I'm definitely down 4 a group purchase!!!!!!!!!

So how much are we talking for just the cams? Ask Dave if you can be the protoytpe car. Then maybe you can get it for free. Are you coming on the 30TH?

Cams for the 2v stuff looks semi easy to do. If you guys do it yourself, let me know how difficult it is. JUSTIN wants to do cams on his GT, and if he does, ill be there helpin his punk azz out anyway. 20 rwhp sounds cool, especially on a stockish GT

If I go Crane, the cams will run a lil over $300.
These cams have been on the market for months now, according to Dave, in lots of stangs- no complaints... Pencil me in for the 30th . I'll take any help I can get [worship] .

The only good thing about the Sean Hyland stuff is I can keep my stock cams, which I prefer to do. I was told by Dave (Crane) they may be getting cores, but til this point they haven't been able to quote,"procure them."

im also in for a group perchase. where did you find the crane cams. i checked there website and couldn't find anything. 300 for a set of cams doesn't seem too bad.

$300 is 4 a regrind . For more info contact Dave Maxwell @ Crane.

If anyone else out there w/a modular stang-yup, even the 96-98 crowd- is looking for more power speak up!!!!!!!! Maybe with enough #s we can get a g/p goin .

so i talked to dave from crane and he said that they have four different grinds that they can do. he said that the total would be $320 plus tax and shipping. they need the cams for five days plus they said it take approx 5 days ground each way. i was thinking if the people that wanted to do the cams wanted to get together and buy a set of stock cams to get shipped off and ground and then when they got back,the car they went into we could send those ones off. this way nobody will have to have their car down for weeks. i am up for helping anyone with the install. checked out the chiltons book and it doesnt look to bad. the stock cams from ford are $130 a peice. let me know what you think?

My goal, don't ph***in laugh it has been achieved, is to build a n/a 300 rwhp 2v stang. A/market cams are a small element in my plan

The price for the stock cams ($130) plus the regrind is getting dangerously close to the SHM price. With the Canadian units you won't have to wait!!! Place your order, 1 week later they're at your house. No shipping of cores, grinding, none of that shit.

how about i show you my fucking W-2. You IM me from work saying how bored you are. hey brian im sorry about blowing up like that. It was really uncalled for. I am just tired of people dogging on me, and keep talking about how i get handouts and such. I work my ass off during the summer so i can have toys to play with for the rest of the year. I just try to work hard for my money and not hit my mom up for everything. Sorry again Brian.
