Looking for alittle guidness have a306 short block with aftermarket internals going to turbo (yes I know the stock block won't hold to much hp b4 cracking etc) my questions are should I spend extra on arp rod bolts, dss main gridle, etc. I Have head studs already,also a good headgasket and what thickness?????? this is were I went for help after much time researching on the Internet but I would like actually help from 5.0 fans that's been down this road thanks

The main question is "how big are you going with this?"
My advice...a cheap set of forged rods, flattop 9-1 forged pistons, and a stock crank. Balance the rotating assembly, have someone build it that KNOWS what they are doing (read: not your corner NAPA auto) and leave the girdles for the girls. Stud the heads and mains, run a 9333 FelPro HG and make sure it has plenty of fuel.

Kk thanks ... cus I'm building a 331 stroker n am worried about splitting the block due to too much HP ..wat else will strengthen the bottom end ? I was going to stud it already...

Besides what was said I don't think there is anything else. If you want to go to the extreme, I've seen build threads where they cemented their blocks. I am not sure how much it helps but racirx went 9s on his stock block that was cemented and I've seen a few other fast combos on corral with cemented production blocks.

The block splits in the lifter valley, so there's not a whole lot you can do to strengthen it. There's a kit that runs a couple of braces in the valley, but I haven't met anyone who runs them. Here's the kit. http://www.nmradigital.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47626

I am also wondering the samethings. I have a 306 short block, b&g turbo piping and going to run 1 turbo. but have two turbo to chose from a 76 trim and a 60 trim. I know it will split the block but I don't want to do it after hitting peak boost a couple of times. So as much as I can do to prevent that I will or best yet low boost?

that girdle that runs in the valley looks like it would work pretty good! anyone heard anything about them ? or have any input?

The girdles are a waste of money, yes I went 9s with a cemented stock block, 28oz, 306 with Eagle rods and SRP pistons and a T70 turbo. I also use the Felpro PT9333-1 headgaskets. Anything over 450HP, there is a great chance a stock block will break, I made around 650HP but I only drove my setup at the track and only ran straight C16 race gas and I knew it could break at anytime. Also I would only use a 28oz or 0oz setup if you planning on making a race motor.
