Drop a 5.0 into a 98 Dakota. My truck has a gutless 4 banger and sucks the hell out of gas. So I figured if it's gonna suck gas might as well make it worth while. I've looked at 4.7 and 5.9's but they're just to damn expensive. Any thoughts or ideas. Does anyone think it would be worth while $$$$ wise or just to damn expensive? TIA

I'm trying to look how to drop a 5.0 into my '89 Toyota Sr5 pickup, since I can't get a TRD supercharger on it.

Is smog a problem for you?....A 5.0 conversion to a 98 Dakota will be a problem with the Smog officials...
I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's probably a better idea just to buy a Mustang...

best bet is to find a wrecked 4.7 or 5.2 or 5.7 so you can get all the sensors and wiring as well

Smog is not a problem...Truck is registered in Kansas.
My thoughts were to remove the stock K-Member drop (have fitted) a Tubular K-member for a stang, obtain the wiring, a T-5, motor, and computer. I know it sounds easier said than done.
I would purchase a stang, but I'm kinda stuck with this truck and buying another car really isn't an option right now.
Thanks for input guys...keep it coming

Unless you know someone who has already undertaken the adventure, I would think it wouldn't be too expensive (in comparison to buying a new 4,7, 5.9 etc.). I would think it would take a LOT of time to fab up the K-member/A-arms.
Your best bet is to find someone who did the swap already so you can collect all the necessary parts/wiring/extra sensors, etc while avoiding all of his pitfalls. I wouldn't think it would be too expensive to get the engine/tranny combo, but it would just take a LOT of time to figure out how it all fits in your specific chassis.
On my projected '89 Yota 5.0 swap, I have found a couple people that did it already but none of them are returning my e-mails.

Evan- what's up man. Glad to hear the stang is coming along. I'm still waiting on pics .
88droptop- Yeah there's a dodge p/u forum I visit sometimes I'll ask around there and see if anyone has done it. Thanks man, hopefully you will hear back from some of those guys so your swap will go easier. Good luck man
