non smogable-thats me [Big Grin] gotta love the hook up
what do u think this combo would make
mildly ported stock ls1 heads
ls6 intake ported if needed
custom cam by u i guess
roller rockers
pulleys
lightweight balancer
full length headers, no cats, high flow muffler
throttle body, air lid
gear
custom tune
and other basic bolt ons
what do u think for the rwhp and rwtq

Ah yes...the Thuder racing cams.

Funny story about that particular cam.
About 6 months ago A guy on Norcal LS1 asked me to design him a cam for his ported N2O setup. I spent a few days pulling some specs...
Came up with a 226/224 111LSA straight up.
At the time TR cams were $499, & I posted quite a bit that I could get a custom for $400....& copy the TR cams without problems since they're Comp grinds & I know all the lobes.
I gave the guy the specs & he called up a BUNCH of places getting feedback. Then TR comes out with that cam & drops their prices to $385.
The kicker.... TR's 230 lobe is within 1 degree of the 226 lobe I chose at .200 lift...& it's also the only cam they have set straight up...just like mine.
The cams will perform virtually the same.

FYI: he just got the car dyno tuned and probably picked up a little since he went to the track, 122.x mph requires 380 rwhp---- spitting distance if you ask me.

If anything I'd say he mph'd GREAT for his rwhp. Take a look at the aerodyamics of that '83 'vert anyways... [Eek!]

Any cam I spec for you will put out over 400RW on that setup. How much over depends on the grind.

Thanks for offer 93 pony. but I will keep building my own motors and picking my own cams. I still think i can go fast, going old school. I still say that kind of power from that setup is impressive, we can agree to disagree.

if a stock shortblock dremeled 302 can make 380 rwhp, can a 351 spec'd properly (stock shortblock) make 450 rwhp?

vic jr. heads? single plane intake, 850+ carb? 240+ duration cam?

sounds like fun to show the LS1 h/c/i guys whats up [Whoo Whooooo!]

HP peaked at 6800, TQ at 5500.
That's how he made that kind of power.

Sounds a lot like the powerband of a DOHC 4.6L and 4.56's are ideal for those cars NA.... I love his combo. How much would it cost to copy? $2000?

For the top-end...probably under $3K for sure. Less if you get things used.

Sounds like a good project for you Sawson! [patriot]

$1500 for the heads and cam. How much is a carb and an intake?

If I put together a combo, I hope it will be something similar.... a simple combo that runs hard [worship]

Then you've got all the 'little' things. Pushrods, lifters, possibly roller rockers, exhaust, gaskets, etc.
But yeah, still a cheap combo.

I saw that he (finally) updated the corral thread. I stand by what I said at the time---- careful with the pure speculation even if it did turn out to be correct. And still none of us have seen the graph.

You can tell where a combo peaks by the HP & TQ splits. It was an 'educated' guess.
