i have an 88 gt and i keep having problems with my starter solenoid {fenderwall one} i have blown 2 new ones already. i have a new starter,alternator,and battery. whenever it blows i try to put on the terminals and theyll start to arc. anyone know what will fix it??? any answers appreciated.

You have something pulling some serious juice. Any accessories (stereo, crazy fuel systems wired wrong, etc) need to be unhooked individually to see what's the major draw. Additionally, check your positive cable going to the starter (the one that runs beneath the front of the engine) to ensure it's not exposed and grounding out.

i agree with John, it sounds like you have a compnent that is shorting or is staying on and is drawing some serious amperage

Also check and make sure the wire on the starter is tight. If it's loose it will cause lots of draw. Just a heads up [ June 05, 2005, 12:04 AM: Message edited by: h8louzn ]
