you need to test it with a vacuum pump. Make sure the vacuum source to it comes directly off of a manifold source....

If it is stuck open you will have very reduced boost pressure. If it is stuck closed you will have bad driveability in cruise and low throttle positions. As mentioned, best to take it off and check operation with a hand vacuum pump and also make sure your vacuum hookup location is working.

When the by-pass valve stuck closed on my S351, it actually blew out the front oil seal on the supercharger after letting off on the throttle while under boost.
