why would i have to push down on the gas to get my car to start? also when im doing about 80 in 5th and let off the gas the check engine light will come on and when i go to give it gas again it sputters for a second and then is fine. i know i need to pull the codes but i havent had a chance yet. problem seemed to start after i installed my powerpipe and upgraded my fuel lines and rails.

I would start by checking your fuel pressure and pulling codes. If I am not mistaken holding the gas pedle down will cause the injectors not to fire when staring so you may be flooding.

I have also heard of issues with MAF alignment when using a power pipe. Try searching the tech section for "clocking maf". I don't remember the details on this one.

it does this for me too. but it doesn't rapidly rise when i start the car. it needs to idle a bit with small revs to get up to about 40 or so

I can usually start my car on the first try, but if I time it wrong, I have to hold down the pedal all teh way just like that also. Other wise it'll just crank forever

Set your fuel pressure to 40 psi with vacuum off. What kind of MAF are you running with the power pipe? Fuel system spec's? lmk Might just need some adjustment on the tune

If your running an aeromotive style pump if I recall correctly this pump does not have a check ball in it....meaning it won't maintain pressure after priming. Try cycling the key on a few times and than starting.... if this is what you've got

if you have 42 # injectors you might be flooding your car on start up and low rpm operation?

I agree with Mtbaughs. Cycle the key on and off a few times to build fuel pressure. If the fuel pressure is low while cranking, the injectors will not have an optimum spray pattern for proper fuel atomization which may cause the cylinders to load up with fuel. When the engine does fire up after you've been cranking for a while, do you get a puff of black smoke from the tailpipes?
