I am running a 92 LX convertable (full weight) T-5 with 3:27's
Stock bottom end from 95 GT GT-40Y Heads (untouched) GT-40 Intake with gasket matched lower E303 (installed straight up) Crane 1.6 Rockers with Crane 3/8th Stud Conversion Kit. 65mm TB 73mm C&L 19 lbs. injectors 255 pump 15/8 equal length shortie headers BBK off road X pipe Flowmaster 2 Chamber 2.5 exhaust
Timing is at 14 and fuel press is at 45 with vac. removed.
The car surges at anything below 2000 and has a flat spot between 2300 and 2800 RPM. At 3000 it comes alive and pulls to 6200. I am going to be swaping to 3:73"s soon, but was considering a cam swap for more low end power. I would like it to be strong at around 2000 and still pull to 6000.
I have heard Crower makes a good cam for this set up, either the 15511 or 15512. I was also looking into a Anderson N-41 cam.
Let me know what you guys think. I really don't have to pass smog, because I am registered out of state, so that is of no concern to me. I just want the car to run strong without surging or without dead spots. This is my wifes daily driver, so right now she hates it. [ August 31, 2004, 12:38 PM: Message edited by: Notch1320 ]

A couple of cheap options that will make more power across the board when setup correctly:
X303 installed 4 degrees retarded (using a 9-keyway timing chain) TFS1 installed 6 degrees retarded Crane 2031 installed 4 degrees retarded Crane 2030 installed 4 degrees retarded
More expensive (but more power) XE266HR installed 4 degrees retarded XE274HR installed 4 degrees retarded (better check P2V on this one) Custom

do you have the idle air plate kit? It is needed with the E-cam it will help cure your surging problem. Plus you have to much fuel pressure. E- cams like to be on the lean side at idle. There is no reason to run more than stock fuel pressure with your set up. You can always advance your E-cam to help bring out the bottom end power. I rolled mine advanced 4 degrees and it helped out. I'd use the TFS,Crane or Crower from things I've heard and what I've had before.
Used the TFS cam and the Crower with the .49something .51something lift.
Just got through installing an e cam and e brock heads on a buddies car along with 1.7's no idle plate was used idles 800 rpm and no surging.
I still think there is something else wrong.
It does feel slugish down low though till about 3K when it just goes goes goes.....

Who sells this idle air plate kit? What does it do for you? I think I have heard of it...do you drill holes in your throttle body plate?

Make sure the sample tube in the C&L is the correct one for your injectors.

It is actualy a Ford part. It was a campain or TSB to fix a problem they were having. Fostang there is no surge with a cool restart? That is the only deal I had before I installed the plate. Meaning maybe after a few minutes of running when it wasn't completely warmed up I would get a surge only sometimes. That was with GT40X heads E-cam and 1.7's

Yup it is I used it flawlessly.
Only surged for about a day till it adapted.
Have you tried clocking it?

Non what so ever has it surged, only when we first started it. But after we got the thing timed and fuel pressure set it has ran no problem.

Does that go under the thing that hangs off the side of the throttle body/egr spacer? If so, my car was surging every time I had it plugged in and was fine when I had it unplugged. I just fabbed up a block off plate and stuck on there and haven't had any problems since. lol
