initially you can tune the FP,&timing . Best bet is to have a prelim chip sent out, that is set up for the combo, then get it tuned after 500 miles. oh and thanks for helping me get the money that your brother tried to steal from me. [Roll Eyes]

Like said above, what's the combo? If its a NA 5.O, adjust the bas timing until it pings and back off two degrees. Once you do that, take it to the drag strip and adjust the fuel pressure up and down until you get the highest MPH.

What st5150 said...only I set timing safe at ~14 initial, then adjust FP at the track noting 1/8 & 1/4 MPH changes. Once the highest MPH is gotten from FP adjustments I up timing 1 degree at a time till MPH stops rising.

It usually takes me 10+ runs at the track to get a good tune. It's best to do it on a TNT with not too many people as you can get back to back runs.....no cool-down to squew the results.

Start with FP at 38 & work your way up till it stops gaining MPH. Start off with Timing at 12-14...

You'll get pretty close to peak power without a chip. But...if you want everything out of it, or are having drivability issues you'll need a custom tuned chip from Byron at www.racesystems.com

I make about 300 rwhp with 30# injectors NA and 37 PSI vac-disconnected was about right, so for sure your 331 will need more fuel.

I make 315rwhp w/ 24lb injectors, 255lph pump, and 32psi. Not every combo is the same.

edit: that's on 87 octane...

interesting! maybe I could dry backing off some FP, a *certain* person told me that 32 PSI would work for me, but I picked up mph with more FP so I dunno... [patriot]

Joe- if more fuel makes it go faster- then that's what you stick with. Believe me, I never would have thought that my FP needed to go down to make power, but that's what worked.

Heather's 280RWHP motor uses 24lb injectors & gets the best MPH from 49psi base.
Go figure...

I got a 331 with 36lb. inj. and 1 run 36psi but it runs like shit.. too much fuel. or maybe not enough spark.i run about 14 degrees of timing but also i had to buy that adjuster that goes on the idle valve because the car wouldn't idle right with my cam..Also make sure that the TPS sensor is adjusted properly. Make sure if any thing that you have no vacumm leaks from the start its hell to tune if you accidently have a vacumm leak even a small one. good luck bro if all else fails get it to run and take it to Apex they charge allot but they know there shit.
