Selling due to our pending cross country move. Any questions, please contact Matthew at 408-605-8707 or Ashlee at 408-598-9775. All services and repairs done by me, a Ford certified technician.
2002 Ford Explorer XLT
169xxx miles
Dark Highland Green and tan exterior
Tan leather interior
- 4.6L 2v V-8
- 2WD
- Class III tow hitch
- 3rd row seating
- 6 disc in dash CD changer
- all fluids recently changed, new air and fuel filters and new spark plugs
- A/C is ice cold
- all 4 wheel bearings were replaced after purchase with new Motorcraft ones
- Brakes are at 8mm front and 6 mm rear, plenty of life
- Tires are at 6/32 with 2 extra Goodyears included with purchase.
Issues:
- Previous owner lived in San Francisco, so has typical street parking wounds on bumpers
- overhead console has broken storage doors. Haven't been able to find a quality replacement to my liking so it's taped shut
This has been a great, reliable vehicle. The 4.6 gets better gas mileage than the 4.0. The mileage is high from our numerous trips to the Bay Area. We wish we can take this vehicle with us to Florida but moving is an expensive adventure.
Asking $4200 or best offer

Wish it was a 4wd

That price seems real high for not being a limited or eddie bauer especially with the mileage. If you lower the price some it will probally sell.

It's an XLT. Ours is 4wd but I took out the fuse so it wouldn't engage the transfer case and look how much fun you can have with these 4.6L Explorers!

What kind of maintenance has it had, ie: timing belt, etc? What kind of mpg does it get?

Work I've done so far. Nothing has more than 10k miles:
- New wheel bearings on LF, RR and LR
- transmission flushed
- new air filter
- new fuel filter
- spark plugs and coil boots done at 160k
- serpentine belt inspected and reused, in good condition
- a/c was recharged in May 2012
- coolant flushed at 160k
- rear axle drained and refilled at 160k
- oil changed 1500 miles ago
Prior to purchase, I did a compression test and had 210 across the board. OASIS report showed no major engine or mechanical repairs to vehicle. Visual nspection showed no leaks of any sort.
