is a roll cage need for these?
Posted by LXjames (Member # 10791) on
:
these are for roll cages preferably but im sure someone knows how to mount them another way. me myself would have iron50 weld a small kick out bar to my seat rails for mounting purposes if you dont want or have a roll cage. one in the back that goes up the back of the seat so the straps have a mount

It's not advised to run a harness with no roll bar...i've done my research on this before and its safer to run a stock seat belt than a harness if you dont have a roll bar/cage. Hit me up Jay and I'll explain if you want
Posted by moeofit32 (Member # 10393) on
:
Ive also done research and they say don run harnesses without a cage or rollbar of some sort

Pm or call to make your orders. Prices might go up by 10-20 bones so get them before they do. And the reason for inflation is I have a mustang that doesn't run. I need to buy a hood an engine finish my interior swap and get my tranny rebuilt.

I'm only flakey right now cause I can't even drive my Mustang. It's drivable but has 2008 tags, I'm cool off getting pulled over. Lol. I get paid tomorrow though, if I can swing them I'll for sure get them.

If those aren't mounted to a bar shoulder height behind the seat and you have them mounted to the floor or backseat belt mounts if you get into a serious wreck you can garantee your spine will be broken. Not trying to fuck with op's sales just throwing out a heads up. Also don't ride around with these loose on your chest if you get slammed forward they can rip your skin apart on your chest. Also lol if people wanna mount the crotch strap check this http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=297

Thanks for the heads up but mostly everybody I sold it to has a roll cage. Or getting one

able to ship to Arizona?

John iron50 is working up a mounting system. He actually bought a pair off me just to figure out mounting for the shoulder straps. Wolfe craft has a crotch strap mount bar for 30 bones and the side straps use your stock mounting points the belts have metal ears with holes for that and iron50 like I said is working on the shoulder straps

there are companies that sell harness bars like you're describing (ioport racing). Although from what I've heard from other racers, harness bars SHOULD NOT be used without at least a 4-pt roll bar or roll cage. The way the harness holds you in place is designed to not allow the body to move forward on impact, rather to keep your body upright. Stock seat belts allow for the body to move forward, so in the event of a roll over, your upper body will be able to bend forward, reducing the chance of crushing your head. Whereas a harness will keep you upright, and with the proper roof support that a roll bar/cage provides, your head will still be protected in the event of a roll over.
By all means, I'm not trying to reduce your sales, but watching out for the guys who want harnesses without the proper setup. TTT for you LXJames....this is a HELL OF A DEAL on harnesses!

A 4 point harness does not do this. It keeps the upper half of the body upright and straight, and allows you to slide under.
