I've thought about it, but I don't want to spend my Thanksgiving weekend under the hood of a car. lol
I've had 3 people offer me $3500. I was hoping for $4k.

Whoa whoa whoa...
I am missing the part where you got screwed over
Did you not look the car over and take it for a spin? Is the hole in the seat and the 160K a surprise to you?
Also, what makes you think the car needs head gaskets?

It's your responsibility to fully look over a car before completing the transaction.
If the car has bad HGs, it should be over-heating very quickly, even after a short drive.
What symptoms were you seeing out on the road before the shop told you it's a HG issue?
And what is meant by "bad HGs?"
If you were able to drive the car and everything "seemed fine" maybe the previous owner was also experiencing the same thing?

That's my old car! Sucks that it needs a head gasket though. You should also get under the car and check to see if all the Maximum Motorsports suspension parts are still in tact...what you described and what it "used to have" when I sold it are completely different!
I say you do the head gasket and keep it! It's a nice ride!

I looked when I loaded it on the trailer tonight, all the rear stuff is still there. The panhard bar, torque arm, tubular uppers etc.
How long ago did you sell it?

If that's still intact, then you probably still have H&R Race front springs, H&R Super Race rear springs, and Bilstein shocks/struts. I had all the suspension stuff installed when I owned the car a couple years ago. I think I sold it about 2 years ago to a guy (he was a member on here) from Citrus Heights or something like that. I know about the hole in the seat as well
It's really a solid car with lots of suspension goodies. I'll cash you out $2500 for it

I actually was interested in this car and contacted BOTH previous owners before you bought it.
Regardless, the Mustang community is pretty small and some folks more than likely know the previous owner. As a result, claiming you got "screwed over" is a strong claim and from your description, it sounds like that claim was emotional and lacked base.
"Jesus dude" -> my sentiments towards you exactly.

Luke, just quit the BS and buy the car already
It is worth the head gasket change
GTE...I've got $2500 cash for you if you're ready to let it go. Serious offer

Luke- my comments about being "screwed over" have nothing to do with Ian. If you talked to my mechanic you would know what I mean by saying "screwed over" The seller purposely hid the issue by doing little things like advancing the timing to 22* initial because it idled and cruised better with that timing. Guess its my bad for not bringing my timing light with me when I went to look at the car.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and now I see why he said certain things when I was looking at the car. Oh well. That's life.
Sorry to hear about this. I hope it works out for you and I do think that swapping those HGs (and probably should rebuild the heads while you are in there) will be the best solution and you will end up with a pretty cool car when the smoke clears.
best of luck!

How much will it be? How much extra would have to be paid to remove the ground effects?

What's goin on man - been living out of the area for a while, back to school again
Man, I don't think I've streetraced since I was on the ambulance....you DID get broke off, I forgot about that
If all you've gotta do is change headgaskets, just do it rather than take the hit on selling it. Hell, I'll be around in a couple weeks if you wanted to keep it and wait until then.

Little bit of an update on this thing. Yanked the heads off and found this:

I already picked up a shortblock (E303, Probe pistons, 18K) from Haulinass so I'm still going to swap it. No sense in just doing the HG's on a car with 160k on the clock.

Bumping this back up to the top. Got the old engine out and will (should) have the new one in next weekend.
Need to see if anyone is interested. The smog cert runs out on 1-17-12, if I don't sell it by then I'll just keep it as I don't want to deal with the hassle of swapping the O/R H pipe for the stock catted pipe and paying for the smog, just to sell it a week later.
$5000
Just to be clear, I am not asking for someone to come give me cash for a non running car. Just some interested parties so that when it is running, it could be "already" sold, if that makes sense.

motor is back in the car, runs but dies intermittently at idle. Revs fine though. Maybe a vac leak? Dirty MAF? Need the car gone. Need money for taxes.
$4500 firm which is a very fair deal for the amount of suspension goodies on the car and with only 18k on the clock. Someone who knows these cars better than I do and can probably get it squared away in an afternoon.
