I have a story to tell about a situation im in right now.

I've heard a lot of good things about fremont macco and have seen pics of members posting there project cars on this forum. So i decided to do the same because im a ford mustang guy.

On Monday 12/27/2010 i decided to take my whip in for the christmas special they have every year, but infortuanately it would be last time i see my car in its glory.

Finally the day came when i would be reunited with my car on 12/30/2010 and I recieved a phone call from Dave manager of macco informing my car was in accident in the shop. He told me the car started itself minutes afters detailing and crashed into the dumpster wall.
[Mad]
I must also inform you my car is a manual transmission and has a viper system with auto start. He also with employees were aware and informed as i handed him the keys about my mustang. It is hard to believe as i never a had a problem with my car starting on its own unless triggering it.
[Mad]
AND DEFFENETLY MINUTES BEFORE PICKING UP THE MUSTANG IT WAS STARTED ON ITS OWN AND CRASHED!

Why didnt this happend the 4 days ealier if this is TRUE? [Mad]
[Confused]
I need help and iput on this....

Unless the car started itself, moved forward a bit, picked up momentum and ran into the dumpster at some speed.

Someone from the shop was either driving the car and lost control or someone left the car in gear, hit the auto start, car jerked forward and hit the dumpster.

Threaten them with legal action.

if it started by itself and its stick wouldnt it just jump and turn off.

I'm sorry I would be pissed, and I wouldn't believe them. If they have the car then they should cover it, I would hold them responsible.

Find out if theres any security cameras there, is there close businesses that could possibly have a view if Macco doesnt.

I don't get the question here? Are they denying liability? The car was in their posession when it was wrecked, so it's their responsibility to repair the damages before returning it to you. Not only that, they should provide you a rental as well.

Also if you look at that back tire I can see tire marks, it looks like someone might of skidded a foot or 2

They are denying liability and responsibility! According to them the keys were on the bench and the car was parked in 1st gear. According to Macco it started it's self and drove into dumpster outside the building!

+1, no way a car will take in that much damage with nobody driving. I say you sue the shit out of them if they don't wanna pay for it

looks like they just bought a stang
i would make them cash me out

I'm convinced this is a mistake of an employee of Macco that triggered the auto start and doesn't want to take responsibility because they would lose theyre job and get fired.

Insurance? Demand them to fix it or you'll take legal action!

Wow! Sounds like their trying to sell you wolf ticket to me. Let's say the stang did start on it's own. How did the car take take the emergency brake off and put it self in gear to drive foward like that??? If it did starts own and drove forward then did one of the shop persons leave it in gear??? Their trying to pull the Toyota Prius card! Don't back down from this and let them get away with it. I would get a lawyer involved and take them to court if it comes down to it. The stang was in their care and the birden of proof is of the even is on them. Also, I notify and file a complaint with the BBB because that sometimes push them to resolve serious issues so their business doesn't earn a bad rep.

have them fix it, and have their insurance cut you a check so your car will be fixed, [Wink] and you'll have the extra doe for other goodies...

MODERATORS MOVE TO GENERAL TALK PLEASE.

Do you have insurance? call your insurance company and tell them what happened. they will go after them and make them pay for your car repairs. Take your car to another place and have it repaired. it"s really simple. Dude is obviously lying. it's an open and shut case. he is tryna take advantage cause he thinks your young and dumb...

they trying to give you the run around, inform your insurance about this, and seek legal help as well

BEST OF LUCK.... this is a win win situation [patriot]

Look at everything possible. Go back to the shop, look where your car crashed, the front tires look straight so look back to where it could have possibly of been parked before being started, check milage, what gear it was in, if you have gears how fast does the car move at idle to see if the speed of the car could have possibly of caused that damage, and try to start the car in gear yourself to see if it starts. If they are trying to deny liability you need to take every action possible to fix this issue.

Not to be a dick but I don't know how having an an auto start alarm in a manual trans car will help your argument. I know there were several warnings on my alarm install book saying DO NOT install in a vehicle with a manual trans. I'm sure they will say the alarm you installed was to blame for the accident and fight it tooth and nail, they are already leaning that way by saying the keys were just sitting there and the car took off. Did they document on the paperwork the issue with the alarm? In shops I've worked at they always put on the paperwork anything along those lines so everyone working on the car knows whats up with it.

How am I being ignorant? I was making a point that they are going to try and get out of it by blaming the alarm. This is a fucked situation for you and I hope you stick it to em, I've worked in shops and seen how hard they try to dodge responsibility for damage done in their care.

thats garbage! try starting any manual car while in gear. all it does is a quick jump, and the vehicle shuts off. if i were you id hold them completely responsible!!! [BS flag]

Posted by BULLITTMAN (Member # 8468) on :

I agree with the others, the shop is totally responsible for the damage and somebody definitely drove it into the bin... way too much damage for a quick jerk from startup...

I haven't watched channel 7 in a while, but they use to have a segment called "7 on your side", you may want to call them to see if they can help you resolve it...but I would try telling them you will take legal action and see what they say...good luck...

here 2 problems i see with what happen someone hit the auto start maybe the car jerked forward an we all see the damage an they should fix but there more before i give my answer on how i would handle it

the second part that car should never had a autostart installed by doing this you bypassed the nuetral saftey switch an made the car unsafe

here how i would handle the repairs need you buy the parts an i would do the body an paint for free
