but it all matters what you are looking for in the engine: fully built with the best parts? it would be at least 15-20k

but you could get a block form pick n pull for $100 or so.

keep an eye out for used motors, or ones that somebody built but never used - you can pick one up for 25% of the cost of having one built.

Don't fall into the trap of thinking a new built motor is better or more reliable - i had 2 custom built motors that had to be rebuilt many times due to bad assembly. would have saved a lot of money getting somebody else's that had already been tested and broken in.
