Lemme break this down for you. Obviously you have inhaled far too much exhaust gas, because you are talkin' out your ass.
1. The Whipple is 50-state legal.
2. You are a "smog tech". Any monkey can shove a sniffer in a tailpipe, press a few keys, and strap a car on a roller. You are not an individual with half a clue about what you're attempting to talk about. Just because you took a test and know the difference between a PCV valve and a cat converter doesn't make you "performance minded".
3. The tune in the car is OBVIOUSLY not the same tune that would be used with say, 110 fuel. I kinda figured this would be a no-brainer/obvious statement...but refer to #2.
4. The number of tunes? Well, do a lil research and figure out how many a XCAL 2 will hold. Start with that guess...
5. What clutch? I can honestly say this is the only question you asked that has any bearing on this post. It is a Centerforce DFX.
6. Track? Why the FUKK would I go to the track with this when I have a low 10 second car? [Roll Eyes]

Now see, if you hadn't posted this...I wouldn't have responded in this manner.

Yes, I put you on blast. Didn't want you to wonder.

EDIT: Here's the Carb EO number, straight from the wedsite: Reference for the Smog Tech that doesn't know his job

This is the reason why smog checks suck, they fail you when they don't know what they are talking about. Here is the CARB E.O. for the Whipple (E.O. #D-231-24) Not that it helps, I've failed visual while having legit E.O. #s by smog techs who are too lazy to look them up.

*bump* for a very good deal

Yea, seriously, SMOG techs SUCK! Sorry if you're a good guy, but they failed my bone stock 96 Saleen at the first place I went to because I had a K&N filter without the stock cover over it. I was like "WHAT THE FUCK??!??!!??!"

Anyway, sweet cobra John and good luck to you!

John, so as your car sits, can it PASS SMOG? I'm Interested in this vehicle but I'm a dealer so IT MUST PASS SMOG?? let me know and I will make you an offer and we can go from there (No I will not low-ball you too much) [Big Grin] .

Very clean car and sorry I never got to meet you. Hope to see you on cafords still.

Yes, as it sits...it will pass smog. Still has the stock H pipe on it. No funny business, it's all legit. Cash talks...but 18k isn't gonna talk to me, no offense.

Rearend specialties will be getting a lot of business back.

Bump for a nice car, and good member of this board.

Post that thing on the corral or racingjunk. Not a whole lot of cash around here.

Some smog techs do suck. Others know there shit and I know a few that hold a large amount of knowledge. Nice car and good luck with the sale. [Smile]

where are you moving? hopefully still local

Sweet car! I want it!

I don't understand this "your tune must be pretty lean to pass SMOG." There is such a small load on the car when it is on the SMOG machine that it will stay closed loop the entire time, which means the mixture will be at 14.7:1 no matter what tune you run, unless you are forcing it to stay open loop in the tune. The car is not going to be under boost on the SMOG machine. Also, won't a lean mixture make you fail too.

John B, just because you have a 10 second car there is no excuse not to exercise the Cobra down the 1/4 to see what it would do. I have a high 10 second car and I still had to take my Dodge Ram out there to see what it would do. (14.998!) I even took my DRZ400E dirtbike down the track on knobbies to satisfy my curiousity! (13.65) Now, if you didn't want to break the half shafts I understand after seeing how many my buddy broke with 100hp less than you!

Good luck on the sale. I wish I could buy it!

Tune runs in Closed Loop untill ~60% throttle (based on TPS voltage).

Part-throttle ignition timing in this tune nets better fuel economy and drivability than stock. Basically, it's MORE efficient than stock....which should net lower emissions.

This setup will pass smog without issues.

it is very tempting. especially when its a clean, low mile terminator. you should get a house instead. there will always be cars for sale.

You need an air "cleaner" not an air "filter" on your car.
