I have a 1989 notch that I put a a turbocoupe engine in it. It wont pass smog because the body is new than the engine. So I want to switch my thing over to a 1988 notchback because that is the same year as the engine. My 1989 notchback has a clean title no accident. Let me know please.

i had a 4clr mustang and i did the 5.0 swap and it passed smog no problems. so i dont think haveing a diferent year 5.0 motor matters for smog

You get lucky once and and you "think" it doesnt matter?
Great help,no?
If he wasnt in a pickle because he had not already gone to get smogged this point would be pointless,no?
There is an extensive list of smog laws and there is a hard way and an easy way out of this.

It doesn't matter they can't even tell the motors apart.

Carlos, how are they telling the motor years apart?

Turbocharger.

They didn't make a turbo mustang in 89 that why he needs a 88. But if all the smog equipment is there you might be able to get it bar'd. Thats what all the import guys do. I thnk they made 90's turbo coupe t-birds.

Thanks for everyones help, I tried to take our the turbo charger and try it like that but since I have the computer from a turbo coupe the car runs horrible. The only way I can do this legally is to put this engine into an 88 mustang. Unfortuntly mine was made in 89 so im thinking of finding a cheap one on craigslist and swaping the items and then selling the 1989, but then I have 2 go through the trouble of finding some1 to buy it from me.

84-88 Turbocoupe=turbocharged.
89-95 Supercoupe=supercharged

He has to find a car that was a Ford turbocharged 4 cylinder in 1989 and there was only one made.
Thunderbird wasn't it.

Ok so I found one, but they are selling just the car with no engine no tranny for 1500. So does anyone want to buy a 1989 notchback lx, was 4cylinder, clean title. Has no engine, no tranny, no drive shaft. Let me know if you need pics. The car is in pieces. Shoot me some offers!
