I'm curious...... who all frequents this section?
What will it take to fill the Fast 50 list from top to bottom?
Posted by hurting your feelings (Member # 13641) on

I do but I don't think people like going fast down a race track anymore on here.Maybe change to the 50 fastest cars on a dyno.

Why don't you fill the list with a bunch of single digit passes even though it was over 2 years ago? Add like CapriR, JPH331, Arvin, Safi, Rory, me, etc, so maybe other people will try to want to go quick again.

Once i get mine running finally good i plan to take it out to the track not gonna be fast by any means; but been wanting to take it out since i got it; just seems everytime i get ready to go out to sac something gets messed up on the car...

I think an annual Top 10 list is the way to go....
It might finally create some action around here!
Don't think your safe if your already showing on the current list either. The slate will be wiped clean once a year, and everyone will have to get to the track to stay on the list. If that doesn't work, we might as well dump the list altogether.
Details to come....

I see a lot of people at the track making passes that just don't post here any more. why dump it?? do you want some help with this section??
maybe instead of a 2 year limit how about a one year limit. Top 25 instead of 50???
heck if you really want to fill the list I will take the wife's edge and my f-250 down the track

In the "old days" it was easy to fill the top 50 list because this was a car site. These days it looks like it's a lot of wannabe gangsta's.

I certainly don't need any help..... there is no activity/interest, so it's pretty easy to manage.
I think we have enough slow stuff on the list.... and their mid field, which is sad.

While I think this would help a little. Most of the people that post on this site now. Just don't give a shit about 1/4 times. Rather ls swap a chp and shut down 880. As John said. It's just not a racing site any more.
I say open it to any Ford, and go to a top 25 list. There is my .02

Maybe get rid of the streetracing forum part; been here for a few years now and noticed it has gotten better but it goes threw times where it seems it more acceptable to street race than go to the track just like the other sport i was in for 12+ years of my life(Paintball) you have the recreational players then you have the tournament players then you have the ghetto people who play in the streets and do drive by's and thief's who just there to steal other gear and resell to their ghetto friends and just kill the sport for the people who actually care. We would just point at the door when these people would come in to our shop and tell them to kick rocks.

Yes, if you own 5 cars, they can all be on the list.
The issue here is...for example, you have been here since 2007, yet have no cars on the list.

This site and section get limited use, so why have a list at all?
The next Sac Grudge Fest is the 27th of this month. If the list doesn't get some use.... it will more than likely go away.

Maybe just drop it to top 30 since no one seems to be moving into the list below that number.

Your talking to the wrong person. I'm a Street racer. I do more racing on the street than I do the track. But That doesn't stop me from going to the track. Sure I haven't tried to better my time. Because I've been doing the new cage and interior. I'll be back Oct.19th to try to get the 5th spot back.
The street racing section is a catch all for all the shit talking & junk for the site.

Still do Wednesday night racing at Sonoma, but I still haven't put my cage in so I have it running 11.50's. I have no idea when I'll get the cage in and try to better my 10.84 that fell off the list after 2 years. I don't want to put a slower time than that up there.

I have been on and off the list for 12 full years... I would like to see it stay. Sad to see cafords becoming less popular. Anyone remember 98cobra.com?! To be honest though with the amount of drama on here sometimes now I see why people stay away. Also less and less of us can actually work on cars nowadays. I remember when we used to post like crazy in the Tech forum for fixing problems etc... But now most the new cars have very little that the average guys wants to get into working on.... Just my .02 cents.

I just joined recently because I lived in the central valley and there didn't seem to be much happening on here from the valley. I think a big part of the dwindling participation is the stupid smog laws and cops messing with any nice foxbody that sounds good on the road. I went to famoso raceway recently and had to prep my h/c/I fox for 3 hours to get it track ready, 10 years ago I wouldn't care and would have driven it to work the next day but now I'm terrified ill hit a mobile smog or other BS. I know this isn't the proper place to bitch about this but I figured I add to your rant because I agree with all of your points.
Posted by WillS (Member # 13793) on

Honestly the smog laws are not as bad as people want to think they are. As a smog tech, there are ways around alot of the power robbing items with newer technology available. Just have to do your research and get someone that knows how to tune the injection system up right.
I hear them boys at AED know their ford stuff really well.

I have had 10 runs on a Wed. As long as I can arrive early I am able to do plenty of runs. My coupe I can't hot lap because it would get heat soaked due to the supercharger and no intercooler, the coyote I have no idea how it would handle that, & my SRT would likely do just fine, but $50 on top of the other expenses like fuel, plus the time & effort to go... I don't think it would be worth it. If I had a trailered(& really fast) car maybe

As the track cools the traction goes up. But it doesnt mean a cold track is a faster track. Like motor temp it all plays part into how you setup the car.
