Anybody going to TnT? I went on the 21st and I was the only Mustang, I might go if it doesnt rain this week.

A few of us regulars from Infineon are planning on going if the weather holds.

Were the 60ft clocks working last week? How many cars were there?

Posted by racsirx (Member # 1710) on :

Yes, the 60ft clocks were working, just a few cars first the hour, maybe 60 cars max after awhile.

I hope the rain stays away. I am going to try to put it back in the 10's but it has cats on it now. I will have to get a better 60ft and get more aggressive with the tune.

How bad is the humidity there? It feels like it might be really high. How much will that affect our ET's?

I will be there but with no mustang [Frown]

Posted by racsirx (Member # 1710) on :

I dont think humidity will be high, it was very high when I ran my 10.000 pass.

No matter what you will run quicker at Sac than Infineon! Isn't there like a 3mph difference between the tracks?

Posted by racsirx (Member # 1710) on :

Yeah, but I am sure that I would get a better 60ft at infineon.

Posted by forced331 (Member # 1270) on :

Yes you will 60ft better at Infineon! A buddy of mine traps 120-121mph all day at Infineon then he goes to sac last month and was trapping high 125mph! How do you pick up 50-60hp between tracks? He will be out there this saturday in a white hatch.

Lee what is your goal for this saturday? Did you do anything different?

Stop denouncing Sac and go with us!! You will be pissed when the white hatch runs a 10.96! I just better be ahead of him when he does or I will be pissed too! I hope to have time to make an 80mph run from before the 1/8 and just hold it all the way to the traps at the finish and see how inaccurate the speed traps are at both spots on the track. I need to do this with the Nittos though because my speedo is accurate with them. It reads about 3mph slow with the taller ET Streets. I will datalog my runs, but know that the ET Streets do throw off my mph. However, if my log shows 125mph and the slip says 131mph, then they read 3mph fast.

I need a 1.60 to hit the 10's with the cats. It will probably be too cold to hook up well enough to do it. I hope removing the sway bar helps. The best 60ft I got last time was a 1.62 and that was when I went back to the 3.33 pulley and it ran 11.08 @ 125mph. That is probably what it will do with the cats and the 3.12 pulley unless I get real aggressive with the tune. I don't know how big of a chance I want to take.

That will make us run faster not quicker! I think you can still believe the times, which is what really counts.

We'll have the Capri to compare ET's and speeds to Infineon as well. He won't have a traction problem and should be real consistent with the auto. I just hope he didn't change anything since Sunday.

I just hope the stock axles hold up so i can have a chance to run faster then need a cage . I got my new 31 spline trac lock but i need to find out how long the axles are for the 88 thunderbird rearend i have in my car .

Well, I lowered the rear with cut 4 cylinder springs to get a better center of gravity and try to get better than a 1.43 60ft, also I will be trying different shift points.

I need to borrow your 1.43 60ft! That would put me deep into the 10's.

Good Luck! Hopefully you 60ft in the 1.3's.

Unfortunately, I should be on my way up there but my car took a crap yesterday when I was doing one last test to check the AFR and Boost. Everything looked good and then after the last run to redline, I let off and then started to coast. When I got back on the gas a tiny bit it started to ping bad. This was with 1/4 throttle at the most and everything was fine on several WOT pulls in 3rd before that. I pulled over and it was not running on all 8. I got home and pulled the cap and the rotor was toast. The end that makes the contact with the cap had fallen off down into the distributor. I replaced the cap and rotor and it is still not idling on all 8. I put my old set of plugs in it, tried a different distributor, and tried to bypass my MSD. I don't know what the hell is wrong with it. I still can't believe it was running with the f'd up rotor. I am not even sure that just happened. I guess I will try different wires, but if that isn't it then it must be unrelated to the messed up rotor.

It should be a great day out there. I am so pissed that I am missing it! Well, I am more pissed that I have a broken car parked in the garage!

Well you weren't the only that had problems, I got to the track and only had one pass, but I good pass 9.75 @ 142 MPH. I just couldn't get my Coupe to start seems like I am not getting spark.

#2 and #3 are dead. What are the chances that I have two bad wires on adjacent cylinders?

Can you say blown head gasket?

THIS SUCKS!!

That sucks! At least you figured it out! When mine went it was 7 & 8 that were dead. And the car ran like shit, like you described!

I hope that nothing else was damaged.

I also hope that it was the bad rotor that somehow caused the spark to jump to the wrong cylinder at the wrong time causing the head gasket to go. Otherwise, I don't know why it went. I was datalogging every run to redline and the AFR was 11.1-11.7 every time. I didn't hear it detonate, but maybe 18 total was too much with 14psi.

Are you doing this with pump gas?

Yes. I had 5 gallons of 100 octane in the garage waiting to go with me to Sac for the test and tune. I was going to go to 22 with the 100 in the tank.

My timing may have shifted because there is a lot of play in my distributor/cam gears. I can rotate the rotor at least 1/4 inch. It doesn't wobble, but it does rotate. I took it out and the gears look okay. How much play is normal? I don't remember having any play with the stock 302. I don't remember what this one felt like originally. I guess I should have paid attention to that!

Thanks.

I hate having a broken Stang!

How old was your 100 octane? I had some go bad on me after a few months, it caused major damage.

Posted by need-a-cage (Member # 5415) on :

I was running Chevron 91 at the time. I got the 100 octane a week before at the pumps at Infineon when I was racing my Ram the previous weekend. I didn't put any in the car. It is still in the can in my garage. I was going to bring it to the test and tune and fill it up there. I guess I better hurry up and fix it so I can use that $40 worth of gas.

You can just give it too me you wont fix it anytime soon .
