Supposed to be the first day of racing in Redding this weekend. Hopefully some of the far north guys can make it.
See you guys at the track. I'm gonna try and break something.

Nevermind. They are getting the bleachers up to code this weekend.
City of Redding is giving the owner a real hassle over the improvements he's done.
After I get my fence in I will go over and help out.

When they do open I will be there in my 91 Mustang. The funny thing is the bleachers have been there for over a year, now it is a issue.

It has been YEARS since I have been to Redding. How good is the track now? How do 60'/ET/MPH compare to Sac?

I have not been to sac latley, but they just Re-did the Redding track and it hooks 100 % better than it did before, I gaurentee you will be happy with how much better the bite is,

Good stuff....I belive WCHRA is looking to have a non points shootout at the Redding track this summer. If that goes down, I'll be there.

Is anyone planning on running there during "Cool April Nights?" I am considering it. Do they still let you get away with running sub 11.50 with no cage?
Any details on when the races are during Cool April Nights and how much it cost? Are they bracket drags or grudge races?
I am not sure I want to drive 200 miles to race though. I am screwed if I break something. I was nervous enough driving the 100 miles to Sac.
Thanks,
Craig

Cool April night is a BIG race. Some people can sneak by lower than 11.50 runs some can't. It is kinda like Sac. They have a all new Tech crew this year so I am not sure how it is going to work. Thats along drive with no trailer I have done it my self and it is a little nerve racking. If it breaks down do not worry we can part it out for you lol.just kidding
this site will have all the pricing and racing info www.reddingdragstrip.net

Sometimes I wish I still lived in Redding, but then again it was around 80 degrees here on New Years day

It sounds like it is pretty crowded at the races then. It would kind of suck to have the wife and kids with me and then break the car! She would kill me! It should be fine though because I would have to run on the Nittos if I take them. It should run 11.30 on the crappy tires with the smaller pulley, or I could just keep my 11.60 Infineon setup on it. It all depends on traction. It is running 121mph right now with the 3.6" pulley. It will run 125mph with the 3.33" and 128.5mph with the 3.12". I have to return my buddy's 3.12" pulley and was just thinking about running it one more time.
I guess I shouldn't push my luck. I told the wife I wanted to go up there with my cousin and bring the sticky tires to shoot for the 10's again. She said that they have the safety restrictions for a reason and pretty much told me I couldn't do it until I got a cage. Then she told me I couldn't get a cage until the house is painted in and out, the floors are replaced, the bathrooms remodeled, and the backyard's landscaping is done.
I am never getting a cage!!!!
Maybe I will just take the Ram up there to check it out and I could run a 14.99 with it. The wife said the kid's would be def by the time we got there in the Stang.

I used to live there and I loved it , but I had to move because it's too hard to make money there.

Well I made it. My first trip since the motor and tuning.
My best was 11.75 @ 122 with a 1.78 60'. With some practice and tuning I should get some lower ET's.

nice runs. The track seemes to be hooking up well. I pulled my best 60 foot ever on my 91. But I think I might of smoked my 331. I think it is time for a 408

I haven't been to redding in a really long time. Do they still have a dirt return road, dirt road to the track and a dirt lot where you are supposed to get teched in?
Posted by 2stangs69-91 (Member # 1951) on
:
Its a 4 wheel drive only road lol. No dirt return road. Dirt going the last 1/2 mile to the track. Pits are not really dirt a asphalt based type gravel. Chewed up asphalt. Redding is the oldest NHRA track in the USA you get to live the nastalga.

The launch surface is much better than it used to be. No more water puddleing up from underneath the asphalt pad, no more chunks of asphalt flying back into the staging lanes. Much better. When they get the new tower done it will be great.
If I get my 60' down another .10 or so from 1.78 and run a 11.49 or better, you think they are going to kick me out?
