yea im running my slicks... there are guys running in twelves with a stock rear end... but every car is diffrent..... some people brake stuff in the rear and only got 225rwhp. some well over 300rwhp and they got no problems... its a gamble..... thats way every time some thing brakes i just get something stronger... ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

i'm going to check the weather now. i'll be out there on drag radials, but 1. i don't know how to do a brake stand & 2.my rearend has 136,000 miles on it, so i'm praying everything holds up. i look at it like this... as long as my tires are spinning my rearend should last

just dont warm em up.....tracked is sprayed wit VHT anyway so it'll be pretty sticky
do u wanna risk breaking ur shit to run a good as time, or run an ok time if u spin a lil??

Nowadays it's not even worth my gas and $$ to go up to the track knowing i don't have the car ready.
Although i do know the "itch" to get to the track

agreed.
I could not see me racing with anything but ET streets.
Last Wednesday i made it to the track and thought i had forgotten the lock nuts for my rear tires. Instead of even trying to run with street tires, i was getting ready to head home when i found them.
Hey Patrick,
Why is there such a huge discrepancy in the mph of the two runs on your sig? same mods same boost?

Jersey
The quicker pass was a hot lap and i think the clutch was slippin up top
It went 1.54 60' and then i missed 3rd on that pass
then went right back into the water box.
Not to mention i do believe the RT lane at Sac reads 1-3 mph faster

me neither.. my rear end had over 120 miles and endured over 15 4-5k dumps on et streets.
I'm sure it would have endured some more, but i Johnb rebuilt it when he installed the rear gears.

My policy is if it can't handle the abuse then it's the weak link and need's to be upgraded with better part's. If it's a daily driver and You don't have the money to fix it if it break's then it's probaby best not to be at the strip on street or sticky's.

I say go out there and run your shit and if you break it then you know what the weak link is. Then just upgrade and fix it. This is drag racing not princess nail polishing. What good is it to have a powerful car if you're too scared to put the power to the ground or if you are unable to put it to the ground. All that "would be" power doesn't do you any good. If you do any sort of drag racing you'll find this out soon enough. The first 1/8th is much more important than the last 1/8th. Hell I can beat just about every street car here just coasting the last 1/8th. And my car is heavier, stock irs, and only has a 180 cubic inch motor. The 60 is where races are won and lost. So being able to get all of your power to the ground during the 1st half of the track (especially out of the hole) is the key. Slicks or go home!!!!!

Well, it all depends on what your racing for. I could have a 12 second car and run 14 seconds consistently all night long to win the trophy as so I see fit. Or I could try and beat the hell out of my car to try and get my fastest time. Either way, i'm going to have fun.

My best run was my first run of the night(unfortunately) at a 12.9. After that, my front splitter decided to come loose and acted as a parachute past 100mph. After removal of it I noticed that my passenger side front tire was showing metal on the inner ring of the tire. I had to call a quits and didn't even make it to eliminations. There were lots of bad @$$ cars out there including that mineral grey gt w/ a cam who ran an 11.38 (last I saw). Overall, I had a good time, and it was nice meeting some of you.
Posted by Mfracing (Member # 4034) on

that gt had n20! i took my bike out and couldn't keep the front wheel on the ground 1st and 2nd gear so my 60' really sucked, but it was great for tv! did you see my buddy dump his ninga? i was in staging right behind him also tv gold!

Did anyone get interviewed by comcast?
I only got 4 runs. 2 really shitty and two decent.
I need to make a habit out of removing the extra mats from the driver side. My first run felt extremely weak and it was , once again, because the mat had slid under the gas pedal.
Ended up cutting a .003 light which is my best to this day.. and got to test out different launching styles.
so.. 13.20 102mph
13.10 @ 103
12.91 @ 104
12.93 @ 104
the car might go 12.80s which would be excellent for only 104mphs.
We'll see what happens next Wednesday.. can't wait.

Damn, I want to get out there!!
MFracing, did you see the Triumph Bonneville schooling all the bikes. My Dad was on the Triumph and won first place again. I should have brought my Zephyr 750 out. My cousin was on his Zephyr 550.
As far as breaking rearends, I am still on my stocker and have over 1000 passes with ET Streets and averaging mid 1.6 60fts. My best was a 1.599. I did strip the spider gears a couple years ago but I think that is because my clutch pack was loose and should have been rebuilt. I think the gears were not meshing tightly because the clutches were gone. Anyway, I hope to see if my 347 will break it in a couple months.
Jersey, you must be shifting that thing quicker now because you are getting some good times with 104mph. I got my shortblock and am currently assembling the motor. I am waiting for some pushrods to show up and then I can continue. Give me a couple months to finish it up and break it in and I will be out there. I am going to run it NA for a while to see how it does.

Hey Craig,
thanks. Glad to hear you finally got started!! i'm leaving a bit on the table still. I'm a little afraid of powershifting since everytime i do i seem to miss a gear
when you see Ron next time ask him to see the clip of my last run. I might have lifted the tires a bit.(we are talking less than an inch here, but still
)

Mfracing, I like your collection. My dad also has a very clean 67 Bonneville that he bought in 68. He is the 2nd owner. The bike is clean but it blows a lot of smoke out after deceleration. The motor needs a rebuild. Instead of rebuilding the 67, he bought an 01. The 01 is pretty damn quick after some mods that we did. His best to date is a 12.67 @ 105mph. That was probably with a slight tail wind. The wind has a HUGE effect on sub 80rwhp standard style bikes. My Zephyr will go from 11.9 with a little tailwind to 12.6 with a strong headwind.
If my cousin takes his bike out again, I may take mine but I should really use that time to work on my car. I would be working on it right now but I had to come to work today. I may even have to work tomorrow!
