Well I finaly made it down for a grudge night at Sac for the first time in a while. It was fun got my best time and MPH to date but still working out traction issues. 11.12 was my best on a 1.76 60 foot time at 128.8 MPH I blew my best 60 foot with a missed 3rd gear shift and a broken new shift knob LOL (dang I really liked this shift knob)Tons of mustangs there. After the sun went down I was expecting some killer times but the track started going away for me. One pass it started going to the center line in high gear I was like WTF? I am sideways...

I could only muster up one nearly full pass. I had to shut down 50 feet before the end and ran a 9.74 at 135. The rest of my passes were all lift and abort passes. I am going to head down and try out the Bakersfield track. All the 10 second and faster cars I saw go down the track had nothing but issues while the 11 - 13 second cars had little to no issues getting down the track.

The scariest was watching Danny and Rob (both early Mustangs) go at it. They were both extemely loose from half track on. Danny (primer yellow sixtys stang) was so out of shape you could see his door at the starting line....not cool.

LOL I only ran low 11's and I had issues. what did you run in your race against rob you were ahead but he ran a 9.69? I couldn't see your board because the seats were in the way.

I only ran a 10.1 at 128 to his 9.69 at 140 [Smile] Lets just saw I KILLED HIM off the tree. I think I had a .408 and he had a 1.130 reaction time or something like that [Big Grin] I was pedalling it all the way down...rolling in and out of it.

I would kill to have that MPH. If you could only get your car to hook up that thing would put down some unreal ET's [Eek!] Well, if you could make it hook, or quit missing 3rd when it does [Wink] Sorry to hear about your shit knob [Frown] [Wink]

That sounds like a race that 2stangs and I had up in Redding a few years ago. Only to compound the problem of being all over the track and in and out of the throttle from about the 1/8 on, after you get past the stripe there are no more lights! Still a good time though [patriot]

I watched both you guys do the hula. [Eek!] Very entertaining. JohnB ran his "new" Saleen. Road race suspension does not make for good launches. But the car looks absolutely evil in black primer. [patriot] It was great seeing Rhett, Bert, Sean, Heather, Rick, etc....
Need to get back to the track more often.

I was right behind you in the staging lanes for this run.....it's great to see you car get off the line [Smile]

SORRY i didn't get out to meet more people [Frown] i wish i could have but if i wasn't in the car i was tryng to help a buddy get some footage which i should have soon.....ki know i have a couple of TeamSolo's runs and probably a few others from here on the board [patriot] i may need someone to host them though.....

As for me i ran a best ever of 11.9 @ 120 on the first run there when the sun was still out and warm.......and i couldn't better that as some were saying the track did seem to get a little looser towards the end as on my last run after a better burnout i hit best a 60t of 1.87 but on each shift i could feel the rear-end sway more than usual [Eek!]

Once again pleased with the results but i know there is tons left in it with me bettering my skills!

I think I saw your car...never got a chance to see you run though. If you can get the footage of my car, that would be great. I'd like to see some of it. Track sucked from start to finish....

For my power output the track did so-so but i truly understand the need of a well prepped track for you guys
[burnout]

I'll get the clips ASAP but for-warning i'm no filming pro and it'll be probably be as shaky as a crackhead [Razz]

By the way anyone know the set-up on the Blue w white strip turbo fox out there.....it sounded good going down track but seemed he couldn't get it to launch w/ the turbo spooled up.....anyway props also to the teal LX w/ the 5 spd [worship]

The blue and white stripe car is JP's. That car will be insanely fast once dialed in. Last night he was only working on license passes.

If anyone remembers my car back when it was Norm's, it had the motor that is in JP's car now. That was back when Norm went a best of an 8.63 at something like 157 or 159. JP, first pass ever with that same motor went 160 mph. Now, its just getting the fine details worked out. That car will truly haul ass once done. [worship] [worship] [worship]

JP come on down to Bakersfield with me on July 8th...Friday night TNT.

Is that the 302 based motor that Norman use to run?

If I remember right it was a 331 built buy Reggie Jackson performance.

I remember hearing stories from back in the day about Norman running a stock block 302 based motor into the 9's with a turbo setup. My facts may be way off as this is just something that I have heard. Norman owning the notch that now belongs to SOLO was before my time. [Wink]

No, the stock block/crank (maybe even rods) combo went a best of 9.39. I dont know the ci of this motor but it is the motor that John @ Reggies built.

Yep, he owned my coupe. He stacked it in Vegas in 2001 or 2002. It had right rear quarter damage which is why the right rear quarter is all blackish and blocked. He gave me the roof/quarters and cage and I've been building it ever since. Now the goal is to break the record of the car [Big Grin]

I remember watching vids of Norman getting out of shape in your car to the point were he was pulling the REAR tires off the ground at about half track [Eek!] I guess it was only a matter of time that he did kiss the wall....lol

Are you planning on using some giggle gas to get the best time ever for that car or is there something else up your sleeve?

It shouldn't take that much NOS with that big cube SBC to run down the record buy that little turbo 331 [Big Grin] .

Nice job Kwick Rob on best runs. I was wondering what happened to you aginst Team Solo. Why did they switch it to a pro light?

because greg had a .4 written on his car [patriot]

oh btw greg, man i dunno what was up the the track, we even sprayed a 2nd time. dave comes up and asks me if i think we should do a spray, with you in mind i answer YES! lol

I'm giving Sac one more try. It looks like June 17th will be a 'good track' for the 12-5:00PM test n tune. The nitro qualifying starts at 6:00PM so I am sure some will be there testing that day.

EDIT: dammit...work related outing on the 17th...dammit [Mad]

thanks Rhett your sweet ride will be out there soon enough. I missed a few of the races I wanted to see but that always seems to be the problem when you are racing.

I agree with the .4 tree they should run grudge night on a .4 anyhow.

I thought my run against the yellow stang was .5 but i could be wrong. it was my fault for not asking greg how it we were doing it. but my 1.1 eaction was my best ever too [Roll Eyes] . i like running a half second faster and still lose!

Posted by 2stangs69-91 (Member # 1951) on :

I wasn't paying attention but I know 99% of the races were .5, for the track conditions a 9.69 was a nice run actualy.

Nice to finally meet you 2-stangs.
Looks like you're only a few suspenssion tweeks away from a 10 second pass! [Eek!] (If you cure that detonation in time!) I don't know if Rhett told you, but on your last pass as you went by in 1st/2nd it detonated at the top of 1st & continuted all the way through second....I could hear it from the top of the stands!

Hmm....wait a minute. 11.12 &128.8mph!?! That's .5mph better then my 11.12! Damnit, I'm gonna have to throw more $$$ at my pile now! [Mad]

[patriot]

thanks 93 pony I was feathering it on my last pass at that time. When I do that the boost cooler shuts off and on and sometime it pings a little. Thank god for cometic Head gaskets LOL. I am going to have to do a little figuring to cure that or just don't lift [Big Grin]
