I would have thought a LS1 on NOS with gears and bolt on's would be faster. This goes to show you money can buy performance.

That LS1 is an 11 second car. Look at the 60 foot time: 2.0. With slicks and a slightly bigger shot, it is deep in the 11's. It's all stock internals with a 100 dry shot, running 12.1 with a 2.0 60 foot time. I'd say that's pretty damn fast. I mean I know this is a Ford site but that is impressive any way you look at it.

Big difference between an drag optimized LS1 on a wetshot and a street car on a dry shot.
The average run of the mill 100HP dryshot LS1 traps about 117-119mph. One with a 150HPwetkit usually traps 123-126mph.

anyone know what he did to go from 119 to 126 mph?
Posted by 1fast281 (Member # 4670) on

He just got a better 60 foot time. With 11 second cars, when you improve your 60 foot time your MPH goes way up. It makes a bigger difference the faster your car is.

Is that one of Treynor's cars????? Cause if it is that guy is all about Fast AMG's! He is the guy with the S600 TT v12 that does 11's too. I wonder if that thing is really stock? wether or not it is still fast as freak for being luxury!

well the merc. could have let off the gas to run a 118 trap, just a thought

He was still learning how to drive the car. It's pretty new
He says he has the timeslips and video should follow. Treynor usually isn't one to give out false #s. Besides, his SL600 ran 122mph or so and this car has more power an dis lighter.
Ohh and yes, when your 60' gets better your MPH drops..
Posted by 1fast281 (Member # 4670) on

He didn't let off the gas. You can see they were actually racing a little bit even after the traps. Ask Treynor how he ran 120+mph later and I bet you he will tell you he got a better 60 foot time because otherwise his ET would have been worse.

thanks drew! hows the car comin?

You can definitely gain MPH by getting a better 60'. However, the only way you would gain ~8mph would be from going from spinning half way down the track to pretty much dead hooking.

ben put 109 in the tank too

The main issue was traction in 1st gear. Every single run I'd spin in 1st, and the computer would retard power / apply brakes to quell wheelspin. The 118 mph pass was my worst of the evening - I had three separate bouts of wheelspin in a single pass, and the computer *really* killed the power for about half a sec. The 126 MPH pass had only a chirp at the launch and a bit of mild wheelspin at the top of 1st, and the computer only backed off slightly.
And yes, I have the timeslips to back up all these times Just wait till I go next Saturday with Drag Radials to keep the car hooked up...

Its just sitting in the garage getting dusty. I need to get a few other projects taken care of so that I can get back to my car. I also have a few changes I want to make before I bring it out again. Oh, and of course fix that ignition propblem I'm having.

is there anyway to get the "traction control" off i imagine on merc's its a little more complicated than just traciton on and off... but any ecu upgrades that'll get rid of it?

The slicks will go on once I see the MPH I'm looking for. I'm already pushing it as far as not having a roll bar. I'm pretty sure low 11's may be frowned upon, (unless it is on DR's, right Jeff? )

You may not know this.....but when you go through tech and the tech guys ask what you are going to run, just say 12's THEN, when they kick you out for going 11's worry about a roll bar

People have different oppinions on how the best way to use a DR is. For the most part, everyone at least agrees on using the water box before your burnout, (easier on the clutch, expecially when doing 2nd gear burnouts). The part that most people can't agree on is the length of the burnout. I prefur a mild to mid length smoking of the tires myself. Seems to work for me.

Yeah thats what I plan on doing, plus I have a gay autopower 4 pt in the car that they will probably laugh at , dont have the on/off switch mounted out back, etc....The list of shit that I gotta do seems to kepp getting longer and longer and I havent even put the n20 in yet so i can really start going fast

Yeah Like what Drew said, everybody has there own thing about the DR's. With me after awhile water gets pulled out of the box so depending if the box is super dry or super wet sometimes I don't back in all the way I just back far enough to get into the water that was pulled out of the water box from other people.

That's what I do... I never go INTO the box with DRs except in my C5 because it had weird issues with TQ managment and had trouble spinning the tires so i had to get em good and wet.
