I think there is something wrong with my car. Im not getting the number I should be with the setup I have.
Ok i have the following mods:
Cold air intake
70mm throttle body
underdrive pulleys
short throw shifter
x-pipe
flows
3.73s
Nitto Drag Radials

Im running a 13.59 @ 102.7 and 1.9 60'

I've seen people with about the same mods running between 13.2 and 13.4
and trust me I know how to drive my car.

Any suggestions on whats wrong, the car doesn't pull that hard anymore after about 90 mph.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

-Alex

It would be great if you could data log your car at the track. That way you know exactly what the EEC-V is doing under WOT. Gas maybe? Are these other guys running a chip? Common data loggers are AutoTap, OBD-2 or even a basic handheld scanner will work.

No, no chip, a chip will be my next mod, I'm still looking around though to find the best deals.
Thanx

Your TB is two big for starters and you must be spinning a little with 1.9 60 foot Times. Try 18 lbs of air pressure in nittos.

TB? yea I've been spinning a little too much. 18 psi sounds good I had them at about 22-24.
Thanx man

throttle body. a 70 is good enough to put you into the low 11's

I went 13.11 @ 102.8 w/1.75 60' about 2 years ago, so I'd say there's several tenths to go in your driving, and most of that at the launch (1.9 is not that good for a drag radial and 3.73s )

good luck, you'll get there. [Cool]

there are people that run upper 12's with that mph too, but usually more gear (4.10 or 4.30)

Thanx man

dont worry about the tb

a 70mm tb on a stock type foxbody is overkill, but a 70mm on a 4.6 is great

i think 2stangs might have thought u had a 5.0

what are you shifting at?? Try to get those 60's down in the 1.7's, i wouldnt worry about the TB either, 70 is fine for a 4.6! I would say you are doing pretty well for a near stock GT, you can always take out some weight to help those times out too [patriot]

I'm shifting at a little before redline. Where should I be shifting if not right before redline?
Thanx

oh and what should I be launching at? I'm launching at about 1500 now

TO SikkStang: I have a 99 GT and I redline at about 5200 or 5400 and I launch at 1500 rpm. Sometimes I launch at 1000 just to see what will happen but you've 1 got mod than me I don't know if you'll still get any wheel spin or not. But don't laugh at me asking do gears really help that much I mean I'm in the low 14s mid 14s I got everything you do accept gears. You think If I got 410s I'll still be able to redline at 140-150mph?

I got 3.73s because my buddy has 4.10s and he says hes right at the end of 4th gear in the quarter so I think if you got 4.10s your 4th gear might be done. Get 3.73s and let me know what you run man. I ran a 14.4 stock and then dropped like .3-.4 with the gears. So all in all it was a good investment.

Oh and also your 60' times will be a lot better and your car will be more torquey

well, cach was running 12.9's with your same mods, except 4:10's. How many miles are on your car, maybe you have a fuel filter getting clogged.

Posted by SIKKSTANG (Member # 1210) on :

I got 40000 miles on it and Cach ran with slicks right... now that does a lot right there and the 4.10s to get him outta the hole quick. I dunno man it just seems like my car isnt runnin at its full potential. Thanx for the feedback though... I'll look into it and see what the hell is up.

4.10s work great, my friend has 4.56s in his gt and runs 13.4 [burnout] [burnout]

Posted by SIKKSTANG (Member # 1210) on :

4.56s??? What rpm is he at when he finishes the 1/4?

Posted by Mfracing (Member # 4034) on :

i'm not sure but his still in 4th. [burnout] [burnout]

Thanzx 4 tha tip brotha!

I really doubt that there is something wrong with your car. I basically had the same mods as you and was running consistant 13.4s with a 1.8x 60ft, 18psi in the nittos and leaving the line around 2500-3000rpm. Work on getting your 60ft down and you will see better times out of your car.

Thanx, I just got new BFG Drag Radials so what psi should I lower them to because I used to drop the Nittos to about 22. Thanx for the input fellas

your car seems fine based on your mph and 1/4 time. you just need to improve that 60 ft. time. and yeah cach ran 12.9 on slicks and 4:10's with a 1.6X 60 ft. time i believe.

Posted by SIKKSTANG (Member # 1210) on :

damn and I thought 1.9 was a pretty good time... I guess I have to lower the PSI to 18 then and hope for a 1.8 or less with my new tires.

Hey Nightmare,
Have you ran your car at the track yet with the blower or no, and if so, what times did you run?

Posted by 00NIGHTMARE (Member # 1010) on :

nah man not yet, but i am going halfs on some 15" rims and slicks with cach so we'll go soon. hoping for 11's though [burnout] but a 1.9 60 ft is pretty good for nitto's but if you want really low 13's or high 12's you'll need slicks.

I just got some new rims and BFG drags so im hoping that will help... the tires are weird they have tread on the outside thirds of the tire and its like a slick in the middle third. I've never seen these before so im hopin they're going to help my 60' drop to a 1.8 or lower... [Whoo Whooooo!]
