Anything in the works? I noticed on Norcal-ls1, they have started a thread about it. What about us?
I'll be ready in about a month. Hopefully I won't be #3 on the list this time (behind only
Norman and John91coupe) Although I am hoping to be in the 10's SOON

i think it should be cafords vs. norcal, no matter the car
then we can take advantage of the mullet ride
and then gregs hydrid coupe if it ever gets finished
ny car will be ready for this, in 2005

It was blazing hot last year! We should hold it in April or May this time.

I think drew@cafords.com is in talks with norcal-ls1 about this. Look for more details to leak soon.
As for who races, it is up to both sides to decide. If the side (A) objects to questionable picks of cars on side (B), side (B) will have to respect the objection. This year, just like last, the goal is to get cars on both sides matched in ET as closely as possble.
If you raced at this event last year and have input/suggestions/comments for this years race, feel free to post it on this thread or email it to drew@cafords.com

How about a Ford vs Chevy in June and a CaliforniaFords internal shoot out in July?
Posted by 93PONY (Member # 60) on

Racing in the heat of the summer was a bit much IMO. The asphalt that day was over 130 degrees!
I say March, April, or early May. Early enough in the year that it's not WAY too freakin' hot (track rules require winter clothes!), but warm enough for a good turnout & BBQ.

Our options as far as dates go are very limited. If heat was a major issue for the racers, then mid June is probably the best that can be done.

Mr Go Fast They bracket the cars last year from fastest to slowest. You might have to step on it a little there weren't to many of them running high 13's. I am sure the people on here can hook you up with some nice cheap go fast parts in time for the race.

1. bottle off my coupe-50 shot
2. et streets-came in today
3. throw out 273's and install 355's
4. aluminum drive shaft
5. new spec 1 clutch
6. throwout front sway
7. short belt
8. 87-new intake and TB
9. loose weight (me not the car)
10.leave the line a 5k rpm
I dont want to install the jug if I dont have to. I want to run the car with the above mods first. If i dont then the jug will have to get me there.

Word of advise if you want a true daily driver to leave alone DON'T BUY A 5.0 MUSTANG LOL. Buy a 4 door somthing that you would be embarresed to fix up. My 91 is my daily driver and the inside joke at my work is "after this I am done" My poor 69 is waiting for me to put it back together I have had 99% of the parts for 6 months now. But the damm daily driver is taking all the cash and work WTF? LOL

I'm not a new Ford owner(14+Mustangs in the past), but I currently drive a Lincoln Mark VIII. Is there a "Luxo-barge" class I can run in? I can easily run a 15.0, and with my new chip I am expecting 14.80's at least. And those are Wednesday Night at Infineon times. Take me to Sac in the dry weather, and 14.50's may be possible. Is there a class I can represent Fords "OTHER" 4-cam car in? believe me, you guys want my ass there "representin'"
Just go here:
www.markviii.org/~blackicelsc
and watch my drag race clips. Notice the race against the El Camino, and my r/t against the Mustang!

unfortunately its heads up racing, no bracket
so even though ur rt was cool ur car just cant keep up with the ls1's they always bring
maybe throw a NX kit on it , put u in 13's and will be competitive
last year the end of the list was looking at mid 13's from the ford side, but u can still race, it just wont count for final points

If you put a decent size shot on it you can run my in my truck if we are fast enough to make the cut. I'll have a new cam and 150shot wet kit by then so we'd both be in the high 12s

Actually, you may not make it past tech without a cage, firejacket, 5-point harness, DS safety loop, etc. Everyone will be set up on a ladder so to be competitive you will have 2 state your times before you get to run. So tech may snag alot of people this year and since we (Norcal-LS1) are renting the track we cannot put ourselves in a liability position for not meeting NHRA tech standards.

Damn it, I may get booted then unless anyone has a 5 point harness and fire suit I can borrow as well as a welder and can add onto my cage( and while your at it weld on a anti-sway bar )

I ran a 10.5 on motor with a fucked tranny and 2 broken valve springs and not much traction. I now have a new tranny and a bigger stall. Heads are at the machine being gone through. Once the motor is back together I'm going to dyno the motor and chassis dyno. Hopefully my traction problem is solved and I have a NX Gemini Twin that I'm dying to try out.

Are you still on the stock block? And iron SCJ heads or John Kaase heads?

Stock 1971 block, 2 bolt main. Aluminum Cobra Jet heads, heavily ported.

You mind letting me know what your flow numbers were and how your block is still around? The fact that you're running low 10's would make me worried about the block. But I am pretty interested in a more detailed description of your engine for sure if you don't mind. Gives me a chance to see where I'm at with my new one.

I don't want to give out too much info since I do streetrace. My flow numbers are 367.6 intake and 227.7 exhaust at .800" lift. My block is held together with crazy glue, just kidding. The block is not filled. The main thing you have to worry about on a 2 bolt main are the main caps chatttering. Go to a good machine shop, pay for the line honing. What are you building and hoping to run?

I did another 460. But I sent the heads off for the porting to a guy I know. He got 322IN. 218EX. out of a set of closed chambers for me. Not the CJ heads either. I streetrace with mine too so I was trying to eek what I could out of those heads for that reason. I will be trying to make a mid-high 10 pass on the motor then trying very hard to make 9.9999pass with 100 shot. I think I will be a little off on that one but thats the eventual goal for my street car.

Fast 472 mach you are a ways off of your high 10 motor pass? how are you going to make up a sec and a half?

The old engine had problems. So it was ripped down and everything that should've been done a long time ago was done this time. And I'm only hoping for a high 10. Nothings confirmed but I have solid backing in the parts I'm using now.
