Sorry to disappoint, but I won't be at the track for awhile

Took the car out for a test drive this evening after finishing up rebuilding the driveshaft, fixing the nitrous system (had a leak AFTER the solenoid which explains only picking up 4 mph on a 200 shot) and replacing my expired safety harness with a new one

Took the car out on I-5 and was @ about 3000 rpm in 4th gear, stabbed the throttle to the floor and when the rpms reached 4500, I hit the nitrous [Big Grin]
The car pulled like a maniac !!!!! pushed me back in the seat harder than ever in 4th gear
Then it happened....... BOOM, a HUGE flame shooting out from underneath the hood, flames rolled up the windshield from my Cobra R hood vents, and the car was dead.

I had picked up enough speed (5500+ rpm in 4th) to coast 1/2mile down I-5, to the 44 west off ramp, about a mile down 44, up the offramp, over the overpass and into a lighted parking lot !!!!!!!

I was just going on a quick trip so I had forgotten my cell phone, money, and CIGARETTES [Mad]

Anyway, the 'vert is DECEASED

Time for a new plan
[patriot]

I've got a 40 here to pour out for the car. Hope it's not serious.

Damn Brain, that's horrible.

I'm sorry about the car bro. Look at it n a positive way if you can....just know it is an opportunity to go bigger, better, and faster!

Best of luck to you again Brain, and we'll be looking forward to seeing something new from you! [patriot]

[Frown] I loved the look of verts on welds...any ideas on the next project.

Next project is probably going to be putting a milder motor in the 'vert. Take the Detroit locker, longtubes, steel bellhouing, TKO, nitrous, etc... out, reinstall the P/S, and keep it as a nice summer driver.

Then get a hatch, coupe or maybe a '79 Zephyr [Eek!] Dart block, billet internals, full cage, tubular everything, and a big ass blower [worship]

So if that remains the plan, it should only take me about 4 years to get the money needed [Big Grin]

No pictures yet, Hell it just happened @ 10pm last night.
My guess judging from #3 and #5 spark plug electrode have no ground strap left, it went lean and popped both head gaskets.
Probably burned through the cylinder head between the middle 2 cylinders
Maybe damaged the block or pistons, who knows

Later
