Went to the track today, made a couple passes, and the third pass went like this:

Nice burn out, to heat up the new tires...
Nice pre lauch, to kinda test the stickiness....
Pre Stage....
Stage...
Deep Stage....

AND

Yellow Yellow Ye-GO....

BANG...there goes an axle

Push the car back...

Pull out the Cell phone...

Call around for prices...

Find Wild Rides Racing....

Pull out Visa....

Dish out $ for 33 spline axles, posi, and delivery

Moral of the story..."If ya use sticky tires...expect to break something!!!"

I was in the lane next to you in the Blue mustang when you broke. Bummer done it myself. I was wondering what happened.

Eric what did you launch at when it broke. I went right before you and bogged hard leaving at 4500. The right lane was crazy sticky.

Is your mach white. Think I saw it happen. Was wondering how serious.

33 spline's? Talk about some over kill [Razz]

Ouch that has to hurt

Eric you must have some kind of factory defect going on with that axle. There is no way in hell you should break anything in your rearend at your power level on DR's. After all, it isn't a GM rearend [Razz]

I have seen stock axle rearends go high 1.5 60fts on ET Drags before, and I'm not talking about a few fluke passes either. Something isn't/wasn't right with your rearend.

Does'nt matter now. I don't foresee it happening again for awhile with 33 spline axles in it. [Eek!]

your not the only mach 1 who has had this happen. That seems to be a problem with the mach 1's weak axles

Same thing happened to my buddy at sears point on this last wednesday in his 03 cobra. only he wasn't on drag radials. he took it back into the dealer and said it broke on the street, and now they are fixing it for free!

Well all I have to say is that Mark(bunchmyfunky) is running a better tire(ET streets) and has more RWHP then a Stock Mach 1 and his car is a Stud!

Go mark! do some more 5k dumps!!! [patriot]

I think I saw him hit a 1.74 60 early in the day. [Eek!]

Mark's car is definately a stud...takes a lot of abuse. However, if you want the number to the place I got the axles from, give me a call. [Big Grin] That's the nice thing about Drag Racing, it's not a matter of "IF" but a matter of "When" and "HOW BAD" [Whoo Whooooo!]

Hey, I still think he would have had it that one time if he would have driven in a straight line [Razz]

Or it would have been a 13.001 [Smile]

Did you get the car towed yet?

Sorry to hear about your rear-end mishap, Eric.

Beef up the rear end, don't warranty it. It'll be good peace of mind in the long run, and it's an opportunity to let the modifications begin.

Have the dealer fix it that way you have new stock axels in the garage for future use.

I have a set of stock rearend parts from my Roush, and yes, I'm not warrantying it...Dealer said that it would be about 3 weeks before I got it. So, the car would be down for 3 weeks, then I would have to have it down for a while after that getting the better stuff put in, so why not just have it down for less than half the time, and get better axles and stuff in there.
