Ok guys, we have the all mustang drag day coming up at Sac. I was talking to Tony and he asked me to talk to you guys (the ones that plan on coming) what you like best, and we will see how we can set this race up.
First off:
Bracket racing or Heads up? Trying to decide if everybody would like it one way or the other. More than likely it will be bracket, with one lane that is heads up - Trophy Class type thing.
Otherwise, probably be broken down into:
Early model (i.e. carb'd, no electronics)
V6
Cobra
GT
Power added
These groups would probably be bracket classes.
Anyways, please leave your opinions, and thanks.
Eric

Actually it's not...it's a Saturday (27th of September) Doors open at 12, racing 2-10, fee of $25 for racing. So now you can go! thanks for the input.

I'm there! Look at some of the old posts from the Mustang Drag days in palmdale. They have a good setup going. Look at doing what they do.

Shoot Eric, I might just have to hook the nitrous up and come out and play for this one.
I'm all for the bracket racing, but thats just me

if there's no lightning, I'm there

in that case count me in, even if there's only bracket racing I'd go anyways. but if there's some heads up class an EFI 302 fits in, so much the better.

yeah definatley man... here is a basic idea of how classes could end up...
a. early model (pre fox body/carb'd cars)
b. late model (foxes/ SN-95)
c. SN-95 PA'd (nitrous/blowers(0'3 cobras))
d. heads up

RO2USH- What date are you planning on having this event? PM me when you get more details.... CaliforniaFords.com will be glad to help promote this event and get a good turn out.
Personally, I'm all for heads up. A "matched" heads up event seemed to be a great success at Ford-vs-Chevy. Perhaps something similar could be arranged? One thing is for sure..... late model V8 drivers would rather leave braket racing for the imports.

Being a newbe to the track scene, what is the difference between bracket, and heads up?

Bracket it racing you try to run as close to a given time as possible.
Heads up is just the fastest guy wins, (first to the finish)

Oh I see. Thanks. I think heads up would be better.

You could always put cement bags in the trunk like Bob Cosby and make up for it in the 60ft

would a car classify by VIN? The reason I ask is because I have a v6 '95 w/ the 2-cylinder bolt-on kit. Or are you just gonna throw me in with all the GTs?

I hate to say it. But I vote for Bracket. I don't think we would have enough cars close enough together in ETs to race heads up.

Are you sure you want to do that? Next time we line up I'll be getting the win light

we could make a couple simple classes for heads up:
1) power adder
2) no power adder
there yah go

Very good example of why it shuold be bracket racing

I would love to go, but I'll be on a cruise in Alaska on the 27th.
But my take on the racing, if its bracket, and I could make it, I'd be racing. If its heads up, I'd be sitting in the stands observing.

Bracket for sure.... unless there is going to be a stock throttle body to pan class for 5.0s...then I am down for some heads up...

I think there should be a bracket class for all cars to go in. Then have heads up in each of the individual classes. Why bracket race with cars in your class. You can bracket race anyone. Go heads up in the classes.

It would be nice to have both bracket and Heads up in all classes, but the reality of the event is that it's the first time that we've had it, so we don't really know how many people are going to show up. Like I said earlier, there will possibly be a heads up lane, and the rest be bracket, simply because there probably won't be 500 cars there.
