Did anyone see that silver 4 door mercedes that was at sac on saturady night? I saw that car go 11.8@118mph and almost fell out of the bleachers in total disbelief. What does that car have in it?

Posted by FasterDamnit (Member # 442) on :

V12 and two turbos. And way north of $100k.

Posted by Black88GT (Member # 394) on :

That car was sweet. At what speed do you need a roll bar? I thought in 11s you needed one. Did he have one?

Posted by treynor (Member # 1854) on :

My best run of the evening was 11.69 @ 118.4. They gave me a hard time for that one, and told me to slow it down. Sacto's pretty forgiving if you run the occasional 11 without a rollbar, as long as you don't do it consistently.

sounds like he won't run the Viper anymore [patriot]

Treynor, is that car totally stock?

Heh.
Couldn't pass up $100 for 4 new Firestone Sealix. 60 series, unfortunately. Just adds to the sleeper vibe...

Hey Jim, what did you do to your paint? A few months ago it looked really dull and oxidized, but yesterday it was looking a lot better. Secret wax?

Posted by RTCamaroSS (Member # 2289) on :

It was cool meetin a few of you guys out there, and racin a few of you too. I had the 99 black SS (yeah, there were a few of em out there), so i doubt you'd remember me. I had a best of a 12.6@110 on my first time ever to the track.. so i was pretty happy... hope to see you guys out there next time!

Front end collision, new paint on hood and hatch, polishing compound on the rest. Yeah, the hatch was in really bad shape.

RTCamaroSS- I think there were more silver f-body's out last night than black ones. I took pictures of several of them and will have them up tomorrow night.

maybe i'd agree if they were both 200 hp 454 stock big blocks. but anything that can make a car run 7.85 @ 180mph or 8.6 @ 160 gets my respect. Also in bakersfield the cam broke in the red fox body after round 1 of elims, someone drove to a shop in bakersfield, picked up a big block nitrous cam, they then tossed it in the motor and won round 2. [worship]

i have a ton of respect for those two cars and their crews... but the dragon has to go.

I liked the Silver SS that did the big smokey clutch burnout, tires didnt turn at all and he still drove it down the track.

Not quite -- chip and drag radials. It ran 12.45 @ 114.5 bone stock... they're just fast cars.

It's common knowledge that in order to make a Ford fast it needs to be powerd by a Chevy...duh!

I was trying to find one of those little yellow "Baby On Board" window thingies, but no one seems to have them for sale any more.

Next time I go, I'll have a teddy bear or something in the child seat, complete with helmet [Smile]

They're going to let you run again? You putting a cage in there or just try to keep it in the 12's? [Big Grin]

Posted by 2stangs69-91 (Member # 1951) on :

HMMMM it takes a chevy to make a ford go fast. How many Fords with chevy's in them won? The class with the BBC in the fords are racing Small Block fords(I think they do that to keep it fair LOL) does the litle Silver Ford Mustang( 02 or 03) of Doug's run a BBC I don't think soooo. [Big Grin]

Posted by treynor (Member # 1854) on :

Yah, they didn't ban me or anything. Every time they warn me, I'm a good boy and run a few 12s for them. The last run of the evening the guy by the timing lights asked me to roll down my window, and said "now you're not going to run an 11, right?" I agreed. And then I ran a 13.0... at 60 mph... with a 7.5 @ 93 1/8th [Big Grin] The people at the timing booth just laughed and handed me my slip.

No cage for the benz, however [Eek!]

Posted by shade-tree (Member # 298) on :

when will running the same 11.5-11.8 or whatever in that benz get boring? BRING OUT THE VIPER!!!11!

Posted by st5150 (Member # 51) on :

Its already been settled, treynor is racing his viper against John91Coupe at the next ford-vs-chevy(and a mopar) race for the battle of the fastest street driven car [burnout] [burnout] [burnout] [Big Grin]

Posted by shade-tree (Member # 298) on :

well that's a foregone conclusion by about nearly 2 seconds.
Have norman/chow/Kevin L/John91coupe/etc. figure out who has the fastest street car and let us know.

Posted by st5150 (Member # 51) on :

I heard Norman's old car got busted once for being driven on the street, and I believe his current car's gas tank is only a few gallons so I imagine he won't be able to make it more than 10 miles with out stopping to fill up. He's out of the street driven car race.

Chow? Don't know his story.

Kevin L has tranny troubles last time I heard, but good point, I forgot about Kevin L.

Posted by treynor (Member # 1854) on :

> well that's a foregone conclusion by about nearly 2 seconds

Huh? My Viper's best run was 10.1. John91's best run is (I believe) high 9's? It would be a good race.

Posted by st5150 (Member # 51) on :

Yes it would be a good race! Its time for you to step out of the LS1 and Supra racing world and enter to the 5.O realm [worship]
