In 91PONY's car.

Made feakin' 12 passes learning the DR's & tuning the new cam/exhaust.
But it was worth it. [Smile]

Best run:
1.945 60ft
1/8th: 8.44 @85.56mph (up 2mph from previous combo)
1/4: 13.016 @109.119mph (up nearly 4mph from previous combo)

Backed it up with a 13.025 @ 109.21mph

Heather managed to beat her best MPH by ~3mph too.

Still getting use to the DR's....first time out to the track with them.
'm sure the 'Drew Mod' would have netted an easy 12 second pass.. [Razz]

Great night! Her car is no longer slow! WooHoo! [patriot]

Good job! Now get that 60ft down in the 1.7s and look out. What was Heathers best run?

DAMN! What was the cam and exhaust change?

Wow, impressive gains. No doubt its a few passes away from 12's. Shoot, mid 12's with that MPH.

Swapped the E cam for the X cam........and slapped an off-road X pipe on there. [patriot]

I think my best was a 13.3 @ 107.5......with a 1.9 60 ft. I'm used to launching on the McCreary's and popping the clutch out......it's way different with the DR's....still gotta learn! It was some good practice, though! [Big Grin] I couldn't believe the mph that car was pulling! [Eek!] Definitely good for 12's now! [Whoo Whooooo!]

good shit! 6 mph from a cam swap? 60 HP? wow!

I'm guessing that's a 12.3/12.4 car hiding in there somewhere [Wink]

I guess even High-flow cats aren't as good as none at all! LOL

I also ported out the lower intake.

Amazingly I think there's more in it. Timing was a 15.

Oh....& that X....isn't in there 'dot-to-dot'. [Wink]

so you retarded it to lose some HP/TQ to make launching it easier again? and to allow the motor to rev to a range it will never see? [Razz]

The X comes ground 5 degrees advanced.
The way I installed it the car has more power from 1500-redline then the E EVER did. [Smile]
The only gear that sucks is first....& that's only at the track.
Heather was scratching every gear at the strip.
[Whoo Whooooo!]

Oh yea baby....even 4th! -

scratches 4th... in otherwords somewhere around 120 mph w/3.73s and a 26" tire? Nice. 800 HP cars don't do that! [worship]

So how is the drivability and idle of the retarded X compared to the E cam?

Uh.....she shifts into 4th ~90mph & scratches.
Bunchmyfunky does the same thing on his DR's....guess he's got 800hp too. LOL

Amazingly the X idles fine at 700-750rpm, but it was throwing codes. I reset the idle to ~800-850 & drilled out the TPS as voltage was 1.10...set it to ~.97 or so & the codes went away. Car drives & idles as good as it ever did. & Still does great hop-lapping at the track. The 5 107-109mph passes were all within 30 minutes. I really wanted a 12....Oh well. Next time I guess.

So does the X idle smoother than the E? What happened to power on the butt dyno below 2500 RWHP? Did you have to notch the stock pistons with the X?

The idles is just as smooth....if not smoother then the E....but it's also ~100rpm higher then it was with the E.
Across the powerband the X is more powerfull then the E. Both when the E was 'straight up' & when it was 6 degrees retarded. The 2mph gain in the 1/8th shows the low-end gain of the X.
The X is installed on a 113ICL. When installed like that there is no need to cut the pistons. I've measured just how big of a cam you can put on 1.9/1.6 20 degree (& TW for that matter) heads with stock pistons. This cam is no where close to as big as it could be.

Not bad really...35+hp for $12 & a couple hours wrenchin'. [patriot]

Oh....Idle vacuum is 15-16inches. [Smile]

I've never seen gains from mods that didn't show in the 1/8 and the 1/4 proportionately. (at least on my car)

only +2 in the 1/8 yet +6 on the big end tells me it probably wasn't launched ideally [Wink]
