yes, powershift, powershift, powershift

98 MPH is good for 13.8 with some great driving. No power shifting needed at this level. Here is what I did:

Back in the day when my car still had stock heads I went 13.336 @ 98.6 MPH [patriot]

So to answer you question, 13's are VERY doable with just 98 MPH [Big Grin]

that doesn't sound like a 3.08 + pep boy radial ET there buddy [Wink]

I'm guessing 4.10s + an ET Street

Haha, not far off Joe. It was with 3.73's and a 26 inch tall ET Street [Wink]

Oh yeah, I vote for NO powershifting.

You should ask those guys who advised it how many trannies they have gone through and how much powershifting REALLY helped [Razz]

BTW, 66 cobra dude, I know you have a 3550 so you don't count [Wink]

The players club of power shifters (Bob Cosby, ect) claim its worth more than a tenth.... and a nice chunk of MPH as well [Cool]

Don't remember the exact number, but he ran 12.5@108 mph with a stock motored 5.O by power shifting like a Kangaroo in heat [burnout]

Drew- that was Ed Hornberg (sp) that use go go through a T5 every other NHRA race.... Ed also ran 11.9's with a NHRA spec stock 5.O motor [Eek!]

power shifting a foxbody hatch will leed to creased 'a pillars' unless a very rigid frame exists prior. ask me how i know

I'm sure durring the extra ~100,000 miles my car has over most other 5.O's; all the pot holes, speed bumps, count for something as well.

[Eek!] how much did your car weigh and what was your 60ft if you remember?

-.. well the best i have gotten so far is 14.1 with a 1.991 60ft at 96.994 so i guess i have to keep trying... any advice on were i should shift at .... its a all stock 90 lx except for c&l 76mm mass air stock censor with the true flow inlet tube and bbk equal lenghts bassani high flow x with dyno bullets ... maybe my problem is i have sportline springs? [Confused]

i went to sac yesterday and it was my first time on bfg d/r and my best mph was 98 [Big Grin] and my d/r's were brand new and are almost bald [Frown] [Mad]

hey sawnson did you take your front sway bar of when you hit 13's? did you take any weight out of your car?

thanks [burnout]

thanks [burnout]

Race weight was 3450 lbs. I believe the 60ft was a 1.72x I'm sure it was no faster than that because that was my best 60ft before the head swap.

My only advice to you is to shift by the seat of your pants. As soon as the car feel like it is "falling off grab the next gear. Also, just keep imporving your shifting speed [patriot]

Posted by st5150 (Member # 51) on :

I didn't have my sway bar connected and as for weight reduction, just the spare and jack compared to normal street duty. I believe I was somewhere around 3275 lbs going down the track that day.

...

Hey what are you saying?..lol.. [Wink]
...Hey, I've seen about .2-.3 tenths just by powershifting, I might have sacrificed a few T5's but hey!?!..

....I still dont know how you havent broken your T5!..You'll have to let me in on that one..

-Drew, how do you shift?..Do you fully lift the throttle inbetween shifts or do you just use the clutch a little more?..

Posted by Yellow94GT (Member # 431) on :

I'm not sure exactly how much I lift off the throttle. Its enough that you can't here the RPM's climb with the clutch is disengadged. I'll just say this, my left foot is much faster than my right...lol [burnout]

yea im working on my shifting speed and im getting better... ive been to the track 4 times with my car and finally im getting consistant with low 14's [Smile] not much to be happy about but i am

another question i have is how much is taking my front sway bar going to help and in what areas would it help me... also would it help to remove the control bar in the rear? [Confused] [patriot]

That sounds to me like Bill Clinton's defense regarding Lewinsky. "I did not have relations.... (I mean powershift that car) lol "

here is my timeslip maybe someone can tell me where i am messing up

Reaction : 1.164
I1: 1.991
I2: 5.846
I3: 9.046
MPH(I3): 77.031
I4: 11.813

E.T.: 14.152
MPH: 96.994

though my mph is low in this run for some reason [Confused] i have a best of 98mph at a 14.2

also what will taking my sway bar off do and how will it help? does it help my 60ft?

NOTHING will help you in bracket racing unless you cut that reaction in half religiously. 14.1 @ 96 doesn't sound too bad to me. If you can hit 98 at times then just learn where it is best to shift and and what not and you will make it to the 13's. Goodluck.

A little tire spin off the line will bring the 1/4 MPH up a little bit. This could account for your 98 MPH pass. A dead hook will not MPH as good.

What tires are you using? Disconnecting the sway bar will allow the body of the car to travle more, there fore placing more weigh on the back tires where it is needed for better 60fts. If you are on street tires this could show little gains though [patriot]
