Anyone else going to go?
i need to get some numbers on my cobra

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

there should be a few cars there, a couple ls1s i know.....and maybe some stangs

Posted by Yellow94GT (Member # 431) on :

There are always stangs at TNT. LS1 guys normally don't show. Maybe its to expensive for them to make that LS1 car payment [Wink] j/p guys...lol

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

yeah its kinda expensive! haha......but there should be this silver ws6 there that would be a good run motor to motor with any 5.0's that usually show........

Thats cool man. I'll be out there as usual. But just hanging out watching. Mark, (bunckmyfuncky), is going to be there with his N/A 4.6. I think he is going to be using my slicks. Might be a good run for the LS1 to try and chase him down [Wink]

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

yeah it should be good, considering they would never put real tires on the damn thing! i hate that! such a waste....but they still went 12.8 @ 114 last time.....stock heads, tires, and rear.

Damn, I guessed right. That LS1 would be doing some chasing down [Big Grin]

114 is a impressive MPH. What are his mods?

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

long tube headers, off road y pipe, cam, and pullies.

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

whats done to the 4.6? If the ls1 is gonna be chasin it, thats pretty impressive for an all motor 4.6 gt

Posted by Yellow94GT (Member # 431) on :

It just has bolts on's really. Stuff like a TB, intake spacer, pullies, CAI, 4.10's, welded in mufflers, and high flow catted x pipe, etc. It sounds like alot. But the car doesn't even have headers...lol [Razz]

This car has really made me rethink my opinion of the 4.6's. 105 MPH out of that setup is very doable. Dont see any full weight 5.0's doing that without even removing the intake/valve covers [Eek!]

Posted by jayl (Member # 185) on :

yeah thats very impressive for a 4.6. But im still a 5.0 guy, actually if you wanna get techinical im an ls1 guy. But these 5.0's are fun on the street.......and taller deck height blocks makin 454's off 351's sounds like fun with a 5 spd and a 200 wet [Eek!]

I'd like to take my new Mach 1 out there to get a totally stock baseline run. Will have to wait and see if my sister can watch my daughter tho befire I know for sure.

It's been so long since I was at a track I have a stupid question tho. Do I need a helmet if I'm running completly stock? [Confused]

What's up Kev? Yeah I'll be there. Not racing my car though. So I guess I'll have to releive you of your baby sitting Ash duties [Wink]

How do those spec 3's work with a hydrolic setup?

Anyway, I'm on a motor building budget so that is why I haven't been and wont be running my car for a while. Oh yeah, don't worry about my new motor being fast....it will still have less cubes than yours [Wink]

should be trying out the 75 shot, maybe a 125 if I get froggy.
and a few motor passes. Got to get that 12.39 on motor! (that's for you Scott, Fasterdamnit, and whoever else has a faster all motor 5 liter except for Jon--- lol can't touch those 11s---- yet!)

i might be out, what time do they start again? 8:30 or 9? I have work at 4:30 so its gonna be an early one [Razz]

I will be there. Looking for for LS1's to race! If you see my green '92 LX, come and say Hi! and we can line up. I will not be on slicks, unfortunately...

Remember '96-'98 SOHC GT heads flow similar to stock 5.O heads..... '99+ SOHC GT heads flow similar to GT40 heads [burnout]

I seem to remember a 105.3 pass in my stock longblock HO in '01 [Big Grin]
oh yeah and that was in the heat of July, not this negative density altitude crap we're racing in now [Big Grin]
(explorer intake though, so yeah punt me from the list [Big Grin] )

And how many Mustangs came w/ those heads and or intake from the factory? I think Drew's point is that for a stock, unopened motor, the new SOHC 4.6's are quite good (and down on displacement, too, compared to our revered 5.0's.) And Joe, how much did your car weigh when it went 105? How much does Mark's car weigh? More weight takes more power to accelerate...

Posted by FireChickenLS1 (Member # 781) on :

still 40?

Yup. 2 Jacksons.

ummm... you got me there. If I remember correctly... 3030 lbs. *with* 200# driver, lol.

I'm roughly 120 lbs. heavier now [Frown]

I'm the last to argue that a untouched longblock bolt-on 5.0 HO is making as much power as an untouched longblock bolt-on '99+ SOHC [Wink]
But the untouched longblock GT-40 5.0 seems to be a wee bit higher though
===*warning bench racing*(108.3 so far at 3150 lbs, probably has a 109 in it )===*warning bench racing [Eek!]

114.7 and we were experiencing valve float! and a broken muffler. 12.8@114.7 with a 2.2x 60 ft lol hopefully I will be able to make more than one pass in the car at the track saturday, and not have it mess up, I had to redo the valve train with some double springs, and we are getting a new muffler put on today and a solid belt tensioner, the stocker cant handle the power I guess [Big Grin] this is a full weight WS6 with the spare tire in it still! lol

mods are a cam, LT headers, 3 inch Y-pipe, catback, stock ported TB, pace 85mm LS6 maf, lid, ASP pulley, ram clutch and some lowered suspension, so it doesnt get too good of traction, but with a 2.0 I would expect a 12.4-5x with a clean pass, @ 115-116, well see. there will be a supercharged LS1 at the track, hopefully I can get my other friend that has a blower to go too, I wanna see him run mid 11s on nittos again hehe.

this is my friends car, but I have done all the work on it.

good luck ponygal! [Big Grin]

I'll be there with a bunch of old mustangs from the vintage mustang forum. Dont think any of us will be running that fast, it will be alot of guys first time at a dragstrip(as far as driving goes). One guy is bringing a '66 Fastback w/ a efi 347 and a Vortech T-trim. Looks pretty sweet but I dont think he will drive the car very hard [Frown] Oh well see some of you guys out there.

The gates will open at 9:30 am and racing is over at 3 pm. Usually they don't start running cars until 11 or so. So getting there early won't really get you more runs, just more cool down time. See ya there [patriot]
