What part is failing the visual?

Do you have a breather oil cap or locking gas cap? I failed on previous tests due to those....almost failed for a powdercoated stock fuel rail on my most recent smog test. Did they even hint to you why it wont pass visual?

The technician failed me because he can't read the EO Carb# off my Bassani catted X-pipe. It's close to 18 years old and to say the bottom is a little scratched up is an understatement. It's the first time anyone has looked for that number in 18 years. Usually they just look down to make sure the cats are there. The same exact technician had no issues with it two years ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can make complain and go to state ref and get it signed off if you paid for that smog/ visual and go back get your money back to the original smog station.
Or just look up the eo number on bar website it’s for free and print it out it should have the bar eo number and Jack up your car use wd-40 and fine steel wool so that can be eo number can be seen go to different smog shop.

Search the CARB website for the EO number of your mid pipe. Print it out and show it to your tech. For a time they made dual cat mid pipes that CARB approved to replace factory four cats mid pipes. http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php Show the tech a print out from when he passed it 2 years ago. He can't make any more excuses if you bring these two documents.

Thanks for sharing that. Had no idea that site existed. Unfortunately nothing pops up for Bassani and 4.6L parts. They've got some stuff for the 5.0. But that was a really good idea
This shit sucks

Does Car Sound Exhaust System Inc's Magnaflow have a CARB exempt mid pipe for your year 4.6? 4.6s had O2 sensors before and after the cats. MIL eliminators will automatically cause a 2 catted mid pipe to be CARB rejected. If you can't find anything, find an over weight smog tech. A big guy is not going to bend over and look under your car.

this right here. i print out the carb numbers from the arb website and keep it in the car. and like what was said, the techs seem to really appreciate it when you have that info on hand.
