ive actually been looking on autotrader and sites like that, they are not modded and usually one or 2 owners price is a bit more but the quality is a bit higher.. i think the site is dead because there was a good year were there was a bunch of rude people and theives.. maybe the mods can make a mobile app. for the new age

It's just a group that someone made on facebook and named it California Fords. It's not worth checking out IMO. I'm just on there to sell my parts and to laugh. Only active Ford page I can find online locally.

This is one of the best posts I've read here. Sharp analysis. Isn't it a good thing the showing off, stunning, exuding their dollars, etc folks are on social media instead of here? What is the best balance?
The community has shown to be good at identifying the problem. What do you fellas think is the solution? Many people whom complain about a lack of posts rarely post themselves.
I for one won't blame others for the shortcomings of a community, unless I put in some of my own elbow grease to bring about positive change first.

It's interesting to read this thread. I've been visiting this site for a long time. Recently started posting as a member.
I'm no expert so I can't necessarily help others. So I come here to learn, and about two years ago to shop for a car.
I ended up getting a car and I'm pretty excited about it. It doesn't seem like people post up pictures of their cars or projects, and there's got to be a lot of stuff going on.
I was previously into American Motors cars and that was the first thing you'd do if you bought a new car, post up some pictures.
I've enjoyed watching other people's progress online, especially when I was between projects myself. I know people come here for parts a lot, but I think projects updates and pics would go a long way toward bringing back interest.
Maybe get the mods to add a "projects" section?

Use social media to advertise the site and invite the new generation to learn the benefits of establishing community via the forum. You would need heavy, consistent moderation to establish precedence on forum etiquette and set the tone to filter out the BS. I think you would end up filtering a lot (most) of the new users since the digital world folks have small patience and want everything given to them NOW NOW NOW rather than taking the time to browse through stickies, use the search function, etc. Most of us were forum n00bs at some point, though. Those who care to learn will stick around.

A dry T5 will make howling like noises. It needs to be really low to make noise though. Use a 3/8 3" socket extension with no socket on it to remove the fill plug on the side of the T5. Stick your finger in the hole. It's full if you can feel fluid. It has too much fluid if fluid leaks out.

Yes, ironic. I had similar thoughts at first and did some research which changed my mind. The constitutions only rarely specifies American Citizens. Only in instances like voting is it mentioned the specific voting right the US constitution grants is only for US citizens. Or proven completely innocent countries US invades, rapes, tortures and bombs their women, children and men. Think Iraq, Vietnam. Or countries US sells arms to their hostile adversaries which kill, bomb and attack them. Think Palestine, Syria. Are the civilians in these countries to blame? Why shouldn't they be afforded the same First Amendment privileges granted to you, if not for all men are created equal?

It actually relates a little to why I ended up with a SN95. I started out looking for a foxbody. But I got tired of looking...most of my search resulted in cars that had issues.
You could buy a car from a nun, who lived on an organic farm, who volunteered to help children with asthma...and her foxbody would have an off road pipe and smog "would be the buyer's responsibility."
I took a bit of a Road Kill trip and got my car from WA.

I did. I was looking for cars in Sacramento, and was willing to drive a couple of hours to get one (Turlock, Bay Area, etc). Then I figured, why not look for cars in Nevada, it's about the same drive time. Eventually, I looked at Oregon and saw a much better selection of cars.
This is where it gets either weird, or restores your faith in humanity. I saw a one owner, '94 Cobra, 66k miles described as perfect on craigslist...located in Washington, just outside of Portland. Google maps said I could fly there in 90 minutes for about $200. I exchanged text with the seller, a few email, and talked on the phone.
A few days later I flew into Portland with money to meet a guy I had never met...to buy a car I had never seen in person.
Dude was cool. Picked me up at the airport in the car. The car was better than described. He didn't shoot me, mug me or F me on the car. I should add: I didn't carjack him, stab him, or flake on showing up. I dropped him off at his house and drove 10hrs straight home.
Two guys can still conduct a transaction without screwing the other guy over.

i spent two years abroad and i went to Stanford the time abroad i studied at oxford and I majored in Theatre and linguistics (NPL) I was also on the debate team,.... i don't mind if people disagree with me. but a lot of ppl here want to act tough like mike did and they put up front...just be real

In my opinion, it's a mix of things that slowed down the site. One is simply demographics. Older members moving on from the forum life. Newer generation enthusiasts or Internet users don't care to spend time on forums or using the search features. Social media has taken over that realm. The world is constantly changing. CAFords hasn't even bothered to update the software on the forum either, to keep up with the times.
The second, was the constant reports of theft. Who wants to proudly share what they have created or built, just to have some low life come and steal their years of hard work and money? Let's not even mention one of our own members who people thought we could trust, shafted a bunch of other members on this site. Thieves and dishonest members bring down a site really quickly.

DLo---- your analysis is good. Take a look at other localized car forums. They are completely dead compared to this one. The entire automotive hobby has shrunk. Fords--Chevys--Imports. What is the fix? The bad people left a long time ago. Can't blame them looking into the future. Proudly share what you have created or built, because the bad people are on facebook.
