Just out of curiosity how much would a 1997 supercharged cobra be going for nowadays? Below are all of the aftermarket parts currently on the car. I'm having a new top put on the car this weekend. I can add pictures of the car if anyone is willing to tell me how to go about it. Looking to sell it if the price is right. Thank you for any help that you guys can provide.
******************
1997 Ford Mustang Convertible Cobra with a Vortech V-1 Supercharger. Clean title, 5-Speed. It currently has 40,000 original miles. The last time it was put on the Dyno it produced 421 horsepower. I bought the car 4 years ago with 36,000 miles and have used it very little since. Exhaust was all redone with high flow dual and X cross pipe. There was also a chassis stiffening upgrade (cross members). Also a suspension upgrade. The suspension was lowered with a Steeda stage 3 upgrade, adjustable Koni struts and new springs. Steeda adjustable Clutch quadrant kit.

Gotta find some vato that cares more about looks than speed. The sn95 is super heavy especially in flop top form. Who tuned the car? We're talking about an 18 year old car that nobody liked when they first came out and nobody likes still to this day.

Well if you want to get all technical on here we can do that. Actually you're wrong about my convertible being a "heavy" car. My car weighs in at 3,471 lbs. Compare that to a 2014 Mustang Gt which comes in at 3705 lbs. I say my convertible is slightly lighter. Thanks for your input.

Well if people can ask $6-8k for clapped out 100+k Bolt on Sn95 Cobras, I'd say you have an easy $10k car. I know its very hard to find a low mileage Sn95 Cobra these days. Throw it on for $12-$13k and negotiate from there.

People can ask any amount they want for their sideshow, dented, non "smoke" checked, x pipe, salvaged due to radio theft turds, but all that matters is how much someone will pay.

Thank you for the reply to my question. Exactly my feelings on this. This cobra has super low miles for the year. Plus all of the aftermarket parts I should have no problem selling it.

Exactly! I've been looking at cobras online that people have up for sell and they look nothing like the condition and mileage that mine has.

This ^^
Don't mind some of the comments you're reading above because some of these guys are just being sarcastic.
Don't be in a rush to sell it. It sounds like a nice car and just wait for the right buyer who will appreciate what you have.
Low mileage Cobra's don't come around to often and I think there time is coming up and value will start to climb.

$7500-8k...tops. Keep in mind, there's high-mile 03-04 Cobras going for 10-11k.
But of course, you can ask whatever you want.
Good luck!

If you arent in a hurry to sell I would sit for a while. Ask the 12/13k for the car but with how the economy is right now people arent really going to be looking for something thats a "luxury". Everyone wants a steal so just go ahead and wait for now bud. Im sure youll get what you want or pretty damn close.

I would say 9-1100, thats my opinion, sounds pretty clean, and i dont think it being a convertible lowers the value, especially in california, it doesnt hardly rain anymore lol. Put it on ebay and see what happens, its free to list it.

I'll definitely take a look at eBay to list the car. You can cruise this car with the top down all year long in California nowadays. Your right about that.

It's just my opinion, that's what he asked for. I have no idea what the car looks like, just like anybody else here except op. If it checks out I think JohnB has the right answer but anything over 12k is a stretch, just my opinion. Some people are paying 30k plus for a 72, not my cup of tea primarily because I don't like big hunks of shit in my tea. How much u think its worth, I know you've sold a few.

SN95s have the smoothest lines compared to fox bodies and New edges IMO. When done correctly, SN95s kill it
I'd trade my coupe for a comparable SN95 in a heart beat. The additional weight is not even a concern if you know how to drive the car
But to answer the OP's question, I'd say it's worth about $10-12k.

It's worth an easy $9-11k just gotta find the right buyer who appreciates 96-98 Cobras...with 40k mileage,420rw with good suspension parts and if the cars body/paint/top and interior are clean,I don't see why this car couldn't bring in around 10k

Posted by Autumnstang97 (Member # 6111) on

The SN95 Cobra is still a head turner today in 2015. That was my first favorite Mustang and it still is. That's why I kept my 1997 GT/4v swap. The Terminator is up there too with me. But seeing how this thread is for your SN95 Cobra, I would say that if you're not in a hurry, post it for sale in different areas and wait it out until someone bites. Someone will. These cars are slowly fading away so one described like yours is even more rare. Just have to time it right with a buyer.

Put it up for 14k obo and just continue to sit on it until someone comes up with the cash. I personally wouldn't take lower than 10k considering the mileage and the mods on it. Or you can post it on CAFords facebook edition since people there say they have no problem cashing out 5k for a bucket coupe.
Posted by FlyingLow (Member # 1485) on

Question for you guys. How do you post a picture on here? I don't think I've ever done that on here. I can post some pictures of the cobra.

sn95's don't sell very well.
It took a long time for me to sell my `97 fobra. True it wasn't a 'real cobra' but it was basically a 99 cobra under the body. I sold it for $6k, engine had ~90k on it, suspension (IRS + 03 cobra front arms & 03 cobra bilsteins/H&R race springs and full MM bushing + c/c plate assortment) had ~20k on it.

The reason for me asking how much my particular type of Cobra are going for these days is because I want to get an idea of what people are willing to pay for them. I know if I were to ask 15K for it. Which is about how much money I've invested into it. I would never sell it. I can tell be the way you talk with people you've never met before you are a very intelligent young man. You can keep your 1500 you need it more then I do. I have that much in my wallet everyday bud.

$10-12k seems fair to me. It looks clean and low miles. Most of the cars that are under $8-9K seem to be beat up high mileage (100K+) cars so it makes sense for yours to be a higher price than that...
Out of curiosity: did you end up replacing the top? Do you mind me asking where did you go and how much did it cost you, and of course, if you were happy with the result (looking at doing mine at some point this year)?
